You can for less than $100.

unless you don’t have DMR repeaters in your area. Then it will be $200 total with radio and a hotspot.

    2004 thingy

I use the serial data output on the FTM-400 to plop the APRS packet data into my tablet (APRSdroid to Backcountry Navigator). No having an open TNC is limiting, the tablet can only collect data and display it, all beacons and messaging come from inputs manually on the FTM-400.

There's a data port on the FTM-400. You run that out into a device. You'd probably want to use a serial-to-Bluetooth adapter, so Yaesu CT-165 cable and whatever adapter you like.

I was thinking it might be hardwired from the radio through the serial adapter on the radio into a cable connection on the tablet.

I post a similar video a couple of pages back.

If your tablet happens to have a serial port you should be able to wire it directly. I think the Android OTG (On The Go) USB to RS232 serial port adapters don't work all that well so Bluetooth is probably going to actually be less headache.

Let me explain where my mind is.....

I have a HT, Baofeng 5 that uses a cable from the mic/speaker ports to the input for microphones and ear bud on my S8.......
