I love my 02 tacoma.
In fact, I like my truck better than I like yours.
I don't want to come off as arrogant, in reality, your truck probrably nicer then mine. The thing is, my truck is mine, I know the truck, I know the history ( i bought it off the original owner), and I have every maintenance record since day 1.
I've only owned my truck 3 years, but hopefully I'm never in a position that I have to sell it.
If you were to sell your truck after 18 years of ownership, you cant just replace it with a similar truck. It just wouldn't be the same. As much as I love my truck, I wouldn't expect you to like mine as much as you like yours.
The debt your in is temporary, selling your truck is permanent. Even if you could buy your exact truck back down the road, the chain of custody would be broken, it just wouldn't be the same.

 

you have your answer right there:

Listen to your heart. You really love that truck and it clearly have sentimental value to you. You will definitely regret it once you will have parted with it and keep thinking about it over and over again

Of course, life sometimes puts us in difficult situations where we must make a choice, but selling something you love so much should be a last resort option

Who came up with the idea of selling the truck to help with payments? I'm not judging but it's not because a loved one asks you to do something that you have to do it. Especially if you don't feel like it AND there is other options
If it was you, well, this is honourable thought, but it will not be a win situation for you because of all the above. You will definitely lose more than the money the truck will bring you. Don't let the injury be an excuse either. This is unfortunate, but temporary


Also, just curious, is the truck paid off? If yes, I would advise keeping it because this will save you the hassle of having payments when you will have to buy a new car (if you sell the truck)

 

Im knee deep in debt right now. Contemplating on selling the house to pay it all off and be debt free like a 14 year old. Selling my rig is not even on the table for discussion!

That's good to hear, since I have both a 97 and 98. Really like them, but could use a change after about 15 years, starting with a 95. I must say they are fine vehicles.
