Going to go with a lift in the next 2 weeks just because this one is budget friendly, I just have a few questions on it if if anyone is running this

I ran something very similar on my last tacoma. Only difference was coil springs. Did very well for me.

I know they are recommended but not always required but did you run new UCA’s with it? I’m thinking of getting it as is then in a month or 2 adding new UCA’s. What size tires did you run with it?

Run new UCA’s when you buy it. Easier to do it all at once.

    Buy JBA or SPC

I did put new UCAs on. I did it all at one time. Freedom Offroad makes a good budget friendly UCA at $360.

I'm running 5100's with the stock springs on the front and I got 2.5 out of it. Rides great and I'm super happy with them. I went with ome Dakar springs on the back. What tire size are you going with?

I ran 285's with a 3" and stock UCA's. You should have plenty of room.

No problem. I had a 3" spacer lift "GASP" On a 2012 stock UCA and 285 75 17. They did rub just a hair on the UCA at full lock but it never hurt the tire and my alignment was in spec.

Yeah mine will be 5100’s front & rear. I didn’t want to go with a spacer lift. I just hope & pray I’ll be able to get away with 285/75/17 on stock UCA’s for a little until I can get new ones (if I have too) I might have to do a little trimming in the wheel well to help make them fit I do know that

You'll be happy with them. Mine now ride good. I never trimmed anything. Just pulled the mud flaps. The UCA will really depend on how you use the truck. I think the suspension will articulate better with UCA's if you do any hard offloading. I used mine out in the oil field and beat on it pretty hard and never had any trouble. Have you done front hub assemblies yet? I would throw a set on while your at it. At least check them when you have it all apart. The 285's will take a worn out set a chew them up pretty quick. They are hard on them being so much heavier.

The only off-roading I do is some dirt roads that take me out to where I hunt and fish and they are nothing excessive whatsoever. So hope I’ll still be able to get away with stock ones. And no I haven’t done hub assemblies yet, is it mandatory? And when you went up to 285s, did you have to re gear?

No hubs aren't mandatory but with it being a 2009 just keep an eye on them. And no I didn't re gear. You'll be fine. I have 275 on my 09 now and next time I'm going 285 and staying at 2.5 lift. But I'm gonna open up the fenders and do a cab mount chop. It's a toy now some I'm gonna get a little stupid with it and make it capable but streetable with the suspension where it is. I kinda dig the lower stance with big tires look. And I won't have to spend a ton on suspension upgrades.

Okay cool, thanks bro. Mines an 09 and just hit 46K miles yesterday so should be good, I’ll keep an eye on them. I wanna get the full 3” out of the lift and upgrade my tires to 285/75/17. Right now it’s stock suspension with 265/70/17

If you go with OME leaf packs make sure to grease the leaf isolators or they will squeak and creek.

It’s just an add-a leaf but I’ll make sure to do that

Last spring I did a 5100 kit with OME heavy duty leafs. After 6 months the squeaking and creaking started. Finally I saw this in another thread and it worked for me.

If your only adding a extra leaf you most likly wont need to grease it.

QUOTE="Lone Walnut, post: 17905645, member: 177149"]I was so close to removing the Dakars due to the severe squeaking. I had tried WD-40, fluid film, pressure washing, numerous varieties of oils and greases with relief only lasting a few days at best. I live and work in an area that has numerous dirt roads, so a combination of mud and dust has collected on the springs over the past year since installing. I have never greased the isolators/bushing/spacers. I separated the springs with a prybar and removed the spacers. The star shaped pattern on all of them was caked full of dirt that needed scraped and brushed to remove. I do believe this has been the problem. Packed full of lithium grease and fingers crossed. Time will tell. [/QUOTE]
