    That sounds *seriously* expensive, and EPDM is sensitive to oil and gasoline.

    I've bought a number of 5 x 7 sheets of checkerplate rubber from Costco for $99. I use it for workshop and garage shop flooring and to cut floormats. It's an approx 1/8" thick blend of SBR, nitrile, and natural rubber, which works well for what I've used it for but might not be best for fender seals due to likely oil and fuel sensitivity. But $2.83/ft2 is a lot better than $8.33/ft2 and checkerplate might be a nifty look.

    I also have some 1/8" rubber sheet drawer liner from Menard's that might work well. It seems to be a sheet bonded from grain-of-sand-sized pieces of recycled rubber. It's not available any longer, but there are other 1/8" sheets of drawer liner that might work, and at $0.78/ft2 the price is sure right.

    I have a big roll of mass loaded vinyl. I wonder if it would hold up? Although using it for this application would seem like a waste of some really expensive material.

    A few tweaks
    Looking on eBay it seems a lot of rubber is 12" wide. Maybe I can tweak it to fit a 12" material.

    You shouldn't unless you have a body lift.

    If you want to try them without spending for rubber you can cut them from something else to test.

    I had a bunch of foam underlayment from a house flooring project that I used to check my dimensions.

    @cazinpa, my truck is a few states away this winter which prevents me from confirming the details, but IIRC, my 2003 DC 4WD TRD has three pieces in its fender seals. A big odd-shaped one like your template on the left, and two smaller, separate, pieces on the right.

    Any idea why Toyota used a two-piece seal? A different shape between the two sides doesn't seem needed. I'm assuming your dual-fit template has been tried for both sides on later 4WD Gen 1 trucks, yes?

    My truck is a 96. I have not tried on anything else! My passenger side was a single piece and a mirror image of the driver's side.

    You could use the rubber from a truck inner tube. It would be a little thin, but probably work fairly well. Less expensive than other options. Might even be able to get a used one from a tire shop for free.

    I used Dorman 963-017D clips to hold my splash shield on.
    IMO they work better than the Toyota ones plus they are readily available at any auto parts store.
