Need some advice men, so I was offered a job recently, GC on windmill jobs, the guy they had doing it put in his two weeks and went to a higher paying job. I don’t have any training for this but they want a young man to train to take over for years to come. I’m currently going to school to hopefully get into Veterinary school, I’m currently classified as a junior. They are looking to start now, at $74,000, company truck, full benefits, and etc. I would have to live at the job area( they provided living) so I would be away for months at times. What would you guys do if in my shoes? Finish school or take this opportunity?

whats that job cap out at? How many years do you want to spend doing a job that has no growth opportunity? Does being a vet ultimately earn more?

Id take the route that ultimately lands you where you want to be in 5 years.

Not by the time I left just after 1p.
I dont think I can give any better advice as what has already been given. If going to veterinary school is what you want dont give up on it. Its much better doing what you want and are passionate about than taking a job just for $ that puts you in a situation you dont want to be in, especially years down the road.

The previous guy left at $105,000. I really don’t know how long the job would be around or what it would cap at. Vets salary range from 75 -140 depending large or small animal. I’ve always loved construction that’s what I want to do out of high school but I got a full ride to school so I decided I’d be dumb pass it up. I’ve done construction under my dad for a while and broke off on my own I built some cannabis greenhouses for these people back in spring and they approached about this knowing I knew nothing but they liked my work ethic. My worry is the acceptance rate to vet school is 15% and without going there isn’t much I could do with a animal science degree.

When I left, people were getting a left side ditch light bracket? @Silverspool @Tundra2Play ?
Life is too short to chase meaningless work (relative to your being, not meaningless in comparison to the whole). If vet school/work fulfills your needs as a laborer, sacrifice for it. What you choose to give up now will pale in comparison to what you reap in satisfaction down the road. Low hanging fruit is just that — easy to grab and temporarily curbs hunger.

Specific degrees are only as limiting as you let them. I wouldn’t hire you as my attorney, but I would seek your professional counsel if you had written scholarly articles, been active in the community, and used your “limited” knowledge in an “unlimited” way. Open a pet-and-owner focused spa. Enact environmental change for animal protection through large corporation initiatives. Invent safe pet product alternatives. The options are dependent on your desire to grow.

Money is a poor motivator, focus on work you care about.

Smoke ass. Eat fast. Drive grass.

Stay in school and get your Veterinary degree, especially if its paid for. Some people go into debt for years just to get a degree in French literature. Your profession will always be needed. You'd have the opportunity to work for someone else or even start your own practice. Construction industry has its ups and downs depending on the overall economy. You can always fall back on construction and still have that degree. It seems many places want a prospective employee to have a degree, even if its not in a related field.

Drive fast, smoke grass, eat.....wait a minute....

Those of you that have installed bolt on sliders......is it easier on the ground or on a lift? Im arguing with myself about which way to go about it.

I’m poor, so “on the ground” or “on the ground with cardboard padding” were my options.
