Hah, I would say the 'good condition' is the result of a frame replacement that was done a few years ago. However, I did take the truck to a krown dealership to have one of their treatments which may have helped, but I was not super impressed with their coverage. (I feel that they missed some spots)

Regardless I'll probably do some form of undercoating treatment as I move this project forward. (haven't decided yet what direction I'll go)

Drilling holes in your rocker panel near the door sills is the best thing that you can let Krown do. My pinch welds down low are just like new. I have had many vehicles drilled. all Toyotas and I really believe it has kept their bodies in great condition.

It's hard to accept the drilling at first but I just let them drill my new RAV4 and also my daughters 2015 Corolla as we just got these vehicles last year.

My 2006 tundra had a beautiful body when I sold it and it was treated annually for 10 years. When you live in the salt belt you need to fight back

I also use fluid film all the time as a touchup or when I'm cleaning up a section of the undercarriage.

who's swapped their valve cover gaskets? What brand did you use? The ones I used 2 years ago are leaking worse than my OEM ones.

For those that installed axle relocation plates, what did you do for the bumpstops?

I went to install my All-pro axle relocation plates cause my tire wanted to eat my fender on a trail this last weekend. But after I got it all situated, I realized that the bolt that holds the leaf pack together will no longer be centered with the axle which gets in the way of the factory bumpstop mounting.

    20200301_112830.jpg

I did some searching around on TW and found plenty of people who had done the relocation, but no mention of this at all.

Eventually I plan on doing a U-bolt flip and shock relocation at which point it won't be an issue, but for now how can I make this work?

I thought about that, but I would have to bore out most of the bottom of the bumpstop and I currently don't have a die grinder or anything that could do that. Might do a combination of that and cut down the bolt to make it shorter and maybe that'll work.

do you have any pics what those holes drilled look like?
there are reports on TW that some just start spraying the FF into some area until it starts oozing out of the rocker drain holes :notsure:

Yes, I did the All-Pro axle relocation plates. I shortened the leaf spring center bolt and then took a step bit and drilled into the bottom of the bump stop, tested fitting on top of the bolt, drilled a tiny bit more, fit it ... repeated until it was snug but seated fully.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
The OEM is what i used.. i mean they're like 20 bucks

i paid for all the rubber seal washer things too.. the old ones were FUBAR. may have helped the lack of a leak

so what is the turnaround on VCG (3.4l) once you get those done for the first time? ... only 2 years before they need to be done again? and probably every 2 years from then on?

I use wheelers super bumps. I just enlarged the hole. Have photos in Igor's build thread. All you can do though really.

The stock bumps suck anyways so take it as an opportunity to do another upgrade :D

I don't use my OEM ones now that I replaced the worn out OEM leaf springs.... so I'm keeping the OEM bumps. :anonymous:
