All depends who buys it at auction. There will be multiple people bidding on the truck.

In the case a salvage yard buys it. They will make a profit by selling the truck piece by piece, part by part.

If it is someone flipping cars. Yes they will take every shortcut possible to make profit. Never buy a salvage car unless you know exactly what happened and how it was fixed.

Welp, everything is complete and I have a new truck. I did go with the2019 F150 with a EcoBoost motor. :anonymous:
Biggest driving decision was room....for now.
A Tacoma will be in my future though...about 7 years after the kids are gone. Love the truck and thought I would have this one forever.

Total damage was going to exceed $16000 in the end (I had a quote of $15286).

Here is a pick of the new ride...on the other side is a 4runner...so we still have a toyota in the family.
And here is the current state of the Taco....sad to see it like that. And yes, I did pull the light bar and brackets. :)
Still going to lurk and keep up with the Tacomas...who knows...might be back in one sooner rather than later.

Good luck with the f150, come back in a few to give a little comparison to the taco. Always nice to hear back from folks that moved on and how they like the new ride.

Oh shit people's heads are going to explode an f150 what were you thinking?

People love to talk shit but my current f150 has been reliable with over 152k. It's getting replaced in 3 weeks with a new f150.

My Tacoma is for the weekend only

Oh yeah...insurance wise...GET THE CAR REPLACEMENT ASSITANCE coverage. I have had it on the Taco for the 15 months I have had the truck. It cost me about $48 per 6 months. I got an extra $5400 because of it. Best money ever spent. And since I was not at fault, my rates aren't affected. Same coverage on the 2019 F150 right now is $57 per 6 months. A relative bargain on newer vehicles.

Love that color on the F150. The STX is a solid package as well. I assume it has the 2.7L Ecoboost?

Yep, 2.7L Ecoboost. Not as much oomph as the 3.5L I had as a rental, but plenty for what I will need it for. Abyss Grey is what I was after. Took a bit to find the right one, but this one was it. Going in for new wheels/tires today!

The only really bad thing about an F150 is that it's huge. Guess that's a good thing too, especially for travelling a long distance with 4 adults riding in comfort.

Can't be much longer than my dclb. I put some full size trucks to shame in the length department ;).

I had a long term F-150 rental for around 6-months. Nice truck and no rust worries:) It’s so easy to drive that a Grandma could pilot it.

Post a pic after the new wheels and tires get installed.

I for sure thought I was going to get an f150 with the 2.7 instead of the Tacoma. If I actually did any truck stuff besides driving on dirt roads I probably would have gone with the F150 for the extra room. Nice truck and keep us updated!

Here they are. Had them put on Friday. I am not a flashy wheel kinda guy so went with a flat black wheel. In the light, these are damn near the color of the truck. So far I like 'em. :)

Looks great. Now you need to install a set of a Raptor running boards.

Here is a spy shot of the 2021 coming out this summer. Refreshed and kept conservative to keep the Midwest buyers happy until the all new 2026 F-150 hits the streets...

Has a very "GMC Sierra" feel to the front/headlights.

OP, I wish you the very best with your new F150. It's funny, I'm here because I'm considering dumping my F150 for a Tacoma! My F150 is a 2018 - Screw 4x4 STX with the 2.7L EB/10R80 transmission. I have had nothing but problems with my transmission. Rough shifting, slamming into/out of 3 - 6 gears, and slipping in 3 and 5th. Twice on interstate, CC set at 70 - truck just mysteriously decided to downshift from 10th to 3rd. The last time nearly caused a major accident when the truck behind me nearly ran over me. Think brake check without tail lights. My wife and daughter refuse to drive it and don't like riding in it. I don't trust it to go further than work and back.

My advice - watch out for the transmission. Mine was silky smooth for the first 4500 miles then it went to hell. Don't do like I did. I took it in at 4500 miles because the truck did the interstate downshift thing. They serviced the truck and drove it. Response - operates as designed. Then the hard/clunky/jerky shifting started. I took it back several times only to hear the same response. Each time, they drove it 5 miles.

I told myself that I could live with the harsh shifting. Then the truck did the downshift thing on interstate again and I was nearly ran over by a semi from behind, and he swerved and nearly took out a semi next to him. At that time, I was two months past my state's lemon law deadline. I should have been more persistent. Now I'm stuck with the truck where I honestly feel too guilty trading off because some poor soul will buy it and the truck will probably kill them.

The service manager did tell me that the 2020 10R80s are better. They offered to trade me out of the F150 for a Ranger but that truck has the same transmission. One problem is that the cab is much smaller feeling than the Tacoma. I'm not sure I could trust another vehicle with the 10R80, either.

    Chris
