Just ride the wave. It's gonna be a rough year. It'll be back, don't make a snap decision.

Not looking like a good q2 for us though. I work in an FAA repair station and Chinese customers are a big part of our business. No planes, no MRO, no work for us, even though we're a dinky operation. GE was already pulling back outside vendor OPs and pulling stuff in house, before CV. Looks like we might see lay offs potential this year.

    Morning all. Happy Monday!
One thing I was surprised at was how good the Gins were in Scotland. I figured it was just an English thing, but we found a few Gin distilleries that were pretty awesome. Personally, I'd have figured you for a Rum guy, though.

I definitely like my spiced rums also and have been working my way through those also. I've always liked gin and tonics, but never realized there was a whole wide world of gin out there that would really change how a simple drink like that would taste.

Have you gotten into any of the warm gin drinks? I was amazed at how warming it up totally changes the character of a lot of gins. Definitely a winter thing, though.

I got a bottle of that in the cabinet. It's good.

For gin an tonics I love Tangueray Rangpur. It's lime infused. Super yummy gin and tonic.

Alchemy is my go-to gin for sipping or for a Barking Dog. For G&T's I've actually been slumming it for the last few summers and have been using New Amsterdam.

Man, this winter has put a serious hurt on the roads around my area. I'm really feeling that HD suspension on my commute

I haven't tried that yet but will look into them and give it a go. Thanks for the tip. For warm winter drinks, I have a recipe for warm buttered rum that's freakin awesome! It's probably a 3,000 calorie drink but it's damn good.
I really like the Rangpur also. It makes a nice, refreshing gin and tonic, great summer beverage.

Speaking of warm drinks - my wife and I have been doing the caribbean style rums, shots of banana vanilla after dinner etc. We make the banana vanilla as a go to, I'll probably bring some to the NMW trip in May. We've done blueberry pie, mojito, sugar cookie, candy cane (that's the easiest, just drop in a candy cane....), bunch of others. Blueberry pie was a favorite for sure. Haven't made a lot recently, it's usually during the holidays and family gatherings we'll make a few. I'll be sure to bring some for the NMW trip. Don't worry, it's half simple syrup it's not too strong :p

What are these, just rum, simple syrup and some flavoring?

So, I bought a yard/plow truck dirt cheap when I moved up here to VT and it lasted me a couple of months, but is now done for. I'm not spending another dime or minute on this thing keeping it going, it's been hacked to death by previous owners and trying to keep it running while also figuring out what they did to it is causing me more headaches than I need, and now I'm shopping for a new used truck for plowing and possibly to take over camper towing duty if it's something that'll be roadworthy for a few more years.

I'm looking at a 2008 Tundra on autotrader, and it's about an hour from home so I haven't gone to check it out in person yet. What issues should I be looking for on this, so I don't end up with another lump of useless steel sitting in my driveway?

On a related note, I have an original Fisher Minute Mount (not MM2) frame, 4-port isolation module, wiring harness, practically new push plates, and a rough 7'6" plow that'll go right on a 1997 Chevy K2500 if anyone could make use of them. Drop me a line if you think you'd be able to use them and we can talk.

Depends on the mix. Jolly rancher, peppermint were just partial simple syrup and drop in the candies. Banana vanilla is partial simple syrup, add bananas and vanilla beans, and then let it sit in the sun for a week or so. Then strain it out. Our last batch was a little strong on the banana, but it was still good. The blueberry pie was using sugar cookie tea bags in the simple syrup, vanilla beans, and blueberries.

Mojito is just mint leaves and lime tossed in the rum plus some simple syrup. The syrup allows the after dinner shots to be a little smoother than a straight shot of rum o_O

Nothing wrong with a straight shot of rum, depending on the dinner company!

Frame, cracked exhaust manifolds, frame, obviously look for loose front end parts, frame...

Honestly besides the frame problems, the biggest problem with that generation of Tundra was the AIP system. Toyota was having so many problems with them that they extended the warranty to 10 years or 150k, so grab the vin & check with Toyota to see if that's been done. If it hasn't, I'd skip the truck. The AIP system is a huge headache when it goes bad (like, unexpectedly, immediately, and completely, and the truck drops into limp mode), and last I knew it was like $1500 to replace it.
Manifolds are a little pricey too but they're an easy spot; just listen for that puff-puff-puff with the hood up at an idle, or ticking under acceleration.
Frame is the same; obvious if you want to crawl around underneath it. Pay special attention to the rear crossmembers.
Especially if it's good rum, like Bacardi 8 or Zacapa

Yeah but with this mix you can have like 6.

We use white Cruzan o_O the rum is completely masked by syrup and flavors anyway, not worth it to get the good stuff. Then again, we also don't want to go for a plastic bottle :p

I meant for a straight shot of rum. You can keep the syrup and flavor and stuff

    :spy:
Don’t knock it till you try it. We picked it up as a habit after a trip to the Caribbean. Every night after dinner they bring over rum. Sometimes they’ll leave the bottle. My favorite place brought over 3 bottles, and of course we had....at least 3 each. It was slow so then the server comes over and says “ah but you haven’t tried my favorite yet!”

    that was a night.

but simple syrup is just sugar and water heated up. It’s basically just watered down and then infused. Down there they don’t water down nearly as much as we do so we might cut down on the proportions :spy: And it’s nice because we were able to have rum with the in laws and not be judged for polishing off a bottle of blueberry pie.

@Pugga reminded me that I had a bottle of Bacardi 8 at the back of the liquor cabinet...

I'm just not real crazy about sweet stuff in general. Captain Morgan private stock is usually about as sweet as I can really enjoy in a drink. Even my Mint Juleps tend to be heavy on the bourbon and mint and light on the sugar to keep them less sweet. :notsure:
