A few of my police friends out here, upper/middle class areas north and some east of Pittsburgh PA, have said that in the past three years, more and more vehicle break-ins tend to be targeting those vehicles with NRA, hunting, weapons decals, and the like. Lots of weapon thefts from vehicles.

Not sure about the 2nd gen but this is impossible with the 3rd gen. You can't lock the doors with the button inside the door while it's open. This is a safety measure to prevent locking the keys in the truck. If you have key-less entry you can use the sensor on the external handle to lock the doors but not the button on the inside.

May have already been said, but investing in a security camera for your home wouldn't be a terrible idea. The camera might not deter someone from breaking in but it could help identify them down the line.

I rent, and I'm basically on an ADU in the backyad of my landlord. I have to park on the street because my landlord has 4 cars. He got his car broken into as well and put a ring camera facing his driveway, but not the sidewalk, so in that regard I'm SOL.

I'll just not leave anything valuable in the truck

How did he know you had a gun in your truck or was it coincidence?

Maybe, for less motivated thieves. I recommending welding the door shut every time you leave the truck, and then saw cutting it open again every time.

Can't forget the windows, smash them and replace with steel plates with holes to look through. Windows only invite thieves.

Yep. Quote from a ex-con in a news story on home burglaries: “NRA bumper stickers say ‘Follow me to expensive guns’”. Burglars go to great lengths to ensure no one is home before the enter so unless you’ve got guns that know how to shoot themselves the cute signs are just attracting trouble. They probably deter the idiot smash and grab druggie or teen but in exchange attract the more professional crowd.

Good call. Keep a furnace handy, and you can always re-blow the glass at a later date to reinstall.

Slash your own tires so nobody will steal them too. Just patch'em up and fill with air when you want to drive again.

I absolutely can do just that. You can’t do it with the mechanical lock that is next to the handle, but you can with the electric button.

It's page 5. How far can a serious discussion go, really?

I get it. I'm all for humor but some of the suggestions are just ridiculous and not even funny.:cool:

Sure, for quick stops. For longer durations, I'll just take the tires off, put them in the bed and set them on fire. From a distance, being able to see the constant stream of black smoke lets me know that the truck is ok.
