You can use it, but it reads the iPod just like a Windows computer does in Explorer - a bunch of four letter file names. Metadata comes over, but that’s it.

But it still plays music? I usually put mine on shuffle anyway. What about thumb drives? I know my android phone uses a music player (Rocket Player) and I just put mp3's on it and it sorts itself out. Wondering if that would be the case with a tunb drive.

So I just tried my ipod, a 32gb usb drive and a external hard drive on mine... the music player app didnt detect any music on any of the drives, but the file explorer program sees them all.

I might have some fixing to do on my unit to get it to work. Ive always just used google play music for all my audio needs.

Yeah, the stock music player will play them as in my attached pic. But honestly, you're better off throwing a thumb drive in the dash or a hard drive in the glove box.

Measure twice cut once. Make sure your tweeter clears the metal behind the panel, there is a little bump in there that can get in the way.

And remember, new sail panels from the dealer are pretty cheap.

If I remember right you have to plug two yellows together. Did you do that?

    None... yet.
Yeah, this confused me initially as well. I assumed that anything that was supposed to be connected (within the Joying wiring harness itself, at least) would already be connected. Took a closer examination for me to realize one was male and one was female. Even having read this whole thread and several others, this threw me off the first time I plugged everything in.

    got it working,
Have to play around with zlink, it turns off the WiFi whenever it connects to Apple car play wirelessly, I’d be happy with a wired connection

Anybody have any issues having Wi-Fi turned on while you’re using Apple CarPlay, mine seems to be one of the other. Apple CarPlay turns off the Wi-Fi

That’s because wireless CarPlay uses Wifi.

How can you use a wired connection for CarPlay, I can’t seem to figure it out, I’m starting to get frustrated. When I use wireless It won’t find and destination on maps, Waze, or Gmaps. I have to disconnect it, type it on my phone and reconnect. I plugged the phone in to USB but no luck

I thought when plugged in it will take the wired connection (check to see if your phone is charging when plugged in, if not you have it in the wrong USB port on the back of the unit), but I don't think you can use your phone as a hotspot if that is what you are wanting to do with car play, that is why you can put in a sim card to get data at the same time.

It is charging, no the whole reason for getting this this unit was for CarPlay but when it’s connected to the head unit (zlink) With any of the three navigating apps I have, it doesn’t allow me to search any destination or iHeartRadio doesn’t work and I’m not sure if that’s because I’m connected to the head unit through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

i’m hopeful it’s just a settings issue because I haven’t seen anyone have this problem before in this thread

Are you still having this problem mine is doing the same thing and I timed it about a minute and five seconds for the radio to come back on the CarPlay I’m with you this might be a dealbreaker, One time you didn’t come back on for four minutes

I never had it go that long, that is a bit ridiculous.

Basically, if I decide to listen to radio or Google-based apps I switch to Waze via Android and that's my workaround. Not fantastic, but I find myself doing that not very often.

I should try Pandora's stations for rock and see if it does as well as GPM does.

I pay for youtube, it comes with google play music and that supports local downloading too. So I can just download stations on there and play them while driving. I do wish google play music had a night mode though, white and orange are not good background colors when driving.
