I pulled mine off and ran brake cleaner through it.

Don't forget to use Toyota FIPG when you reseal the pan; don't use a gasket.

Go to Toyota and get one there.

sometimes they will give you the part number, and price match an online Toyota parts warehouse. Wouldnt put a chain parts store aftermarket in it now, would you? :rimshot:

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

For the record... That is a strainer, not so much a "filter." You can remove it and flush it with clean ATF and put it back in.

There is no reason to replace it unless there is damage to it.

Lol... That's the story people will tell anyway.

Mine has had a rubber gasket for a year now... no leaks.

You are more likely to have a leak with FIPG (applied incorrectly) than to have a leak with the rubber gasket and proper torque.

Been running a gasket for a while now. ITP Performance transmissions uses gaskets on their A340Es as well and I’ve had no leaks.

@Bigbuck1999... if you absolutely, positively feel like you have to replace the strainer. The one you have appears to be the same as mine.

The proper (WIX) part number for that strainer is 58884. I don't have a part number for the OEM Toyota strainer, but you may be able to cross reference it somehow.

This is the strainer and gasket that came with the parts geek kit. I’m debating on whether or not to use the gasket or just use RTV. I have the pan and transmission clean of all the old RTV so I might try the gasket and if I get leaks can pop it off and use RTV instead. You guys really feel like a cork gasket it going to leak?

Several people here have had success as stated here.

I tried it myself only to find out after a few wheeling trips that, my transmission pan was leaking again.

I followed the FSM that's available for download when it comes to torque spec. I had success with it for maybe 2 months or so until I had to replace it again and that's when I went with the FIPG I posted above.
