What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

This was fun the other night. Went to pick up a tv stand and as I pulled up to my brothers place, I could smell burning oil.

Opened up the hood and the entire engine bay was covered in oil. The oil pressure sending unit had oil flowing out of it. Checked my oil and it was just below minimum.

This is after just a few mins with the cardboard underneath.

 

Custom front and rear bumpers were finished last week and got some great pics of them this weekend out in the TN GA mountains.

 

You ever get an answer for this? I was curious myself when I ran my amp wiring

Got the Recall done on the leafsprings (2 hours on the dot from handing off the keys to getting them back) and started the debadging of the truck.

 

Got my notice on Saturday taking my truck in on the 14 is the earliest they said they could do it.

 

Man I would wax the shit out of that. Truck could probably use a coat or two as well

I had an oil change on Friday and when I picked it up they said one of my rear shocks was blown. Was quoted $1,195.23 for two rear shocks with an hour of install time, which I feel is pretty high for just shocks. This was for PTR13-35150 which I believe they put on the 2nd gen TRD Pro. I have 5100s on there now and they are just a couple years old so I'm disappointed they didn't last very long. I don't even wheel that hard.

So now the hunt is on for some new suspension parts. I have a 1" block in the rear that I'd replace with a new leaf pack. Then I may as well get new fronts since I have OEM coils on the top notch which I want to replace with better springs. But if I replace the back shocks I might as well do the fronts too, and on, and on, and on. It all adds up and I wasn't really prepared for $2,000 worth of truck stuff.

 

Maybe try the bilstein 5160s and the 6112 coils up front? 1,195.23 is outrageous for shocks and install... Rear shocks on a Tacoma are seriously one of the easiest things I've done to mine. Its 2 bolts....

 

They were $508 each + tax and I immediately found them for $306 ea through other Toyota dealers. Ridiculous. I'll go price the 5160/6112 combo and see how that looks, thx.

 

Does the lift up front come through raising the notch or by different sized coils? I'm all preloaded to shit up there now and I'd just like to raise it with 887s or something.

 

Holy shit, thats like $100 shy of an entire kit from headstrong for new billy 5100s front and back, OME springs, AAL, UCA's the whole shebang! I have a strong dislike for stealerships.

Finally got rid of the original rear bumper. Replaced with a Shrockworks rear bumper. Got a late start on the install and ran out of daylight before I could get the sliders installed. I hope to get the sliders and suspension upgrade done this weekend.

 

Installed Spiker engineering hood struts. Definitely a nice little upgrade for myself since I'm running out of ideas to do with the truck!
