I'm really curious to see how the supply chains have been affected (many companies already warning to lower shareholder expectations)

That is where the real correction will occur, depending on how bad it is.

Someone famous said that the market is a voting machine in the short term, and a weighing machine in the long term.

Earnings are all that matters over long periods.

it's so difficult because how bad has it been affected? Hard to know for sure until data comes in. Could be a little, a lot.. no one knows right now. China's PMI numbers were shit last month. So I'm wondering if TV and refrigerator prices are about to spike or something..

Yeah it’s a Long term investment l, but there’s a lot brewing for a recession for this year or early next. Election year and with this whole corona hype things might accelerate the process. I’m being biased though as i’m in the middle of selling property in hopes of a downturn in prices in order to reinvest

Anyone that says they know for sure is lying. It’s fun speculating though

. I’m bias too. Hoping for a recession seems wrong but I want one badly. So I can get in on a long term investment cheap :fingerscrossed:

It will depend a lot on whether it's a deep or shallow recession. We could have a recession, and not even know until after it's over and GDP data is adjusted. Or, it could come with that 50%+ correction. The average recession historically hasn't been that bad, -4.3% on average since the Great Depression, with some even being positive returns.

I am just posting this because waiting for a recession doesn't seem to be a prudent move, but I hear a lot about people trying to do this.

Although i agree it is selfish, without it we’d have chaos. For instance prices on homes
has rapidly out paced living expenses for a lot of folks. With out a recession we wouldn’t be able to reestablish ourselves to continue growing. Just part of the cycle ‍♂️

We'll never have another recession again! Didn't you hear? The Fed is going to save us all. They'll fire up the money printing machines and we'll all be rich forever!

Well with this Corona fear it would bring upon us a global recession. I do not believe it will be that erratic but it will come

I would love one, since I'm a buyer. I just think waiting for one might be a bad move. You might wait and find out it's shallow, then what? You sat on the sidelines for years waiting for that 5 percent drop.

Everyone (including me) dreams of getting in at that 2008 bottom, but that isn't likely to happen again anytime soon.

Yeah, when I get out of the market, it's for a very short period. Right now I'm at that "game of chicken" moment, do I steer out of the way (buy back in) or go head on and hope the other car moves and we go lower? Lol

I have a feeling my two portfolios are going to close in on each other quite a bit today.

That's not a bad idea. I think the people who do well are the ones who see a nice profit and take it. Those who stay too long, trying to squeeze out more, end up screwed when the crash happens. "Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered.."
