Yeah, @TexMeg89 sets up a parking lot type meet every month (usually at a brewery). So, new thread each month, that she links in here, and then individual trail run type meets are also coordinated or linked in her monthly thread. I'd say follow this thread first, and you'll see links for the rest of it pop up.

Tahuya is pretty local to you (and me...I'm in Port orchard). There's also the Olympics which have tons of fs roads. Tahuya is decently short and could be done after work....especially more summer time

@Apollo14 - Welcome to the area! I moved up here from Austin a while ago. Love it up here. Wish there was a Chuy's and some good BBQ, but other than that, all good.

    Theres a few good places.

    Peco's pit.
    Jacks BBQ
    Pig Iron BBQ
    BBQ Petes in Kent.

Those are the closest you'll find to Midwest BBQ

Jack's bbq has a really good brisket chili but none of them can touch what Austin has.

Peco's is one of the originals. Has some amazing pulled pork and brisket. Their sauces are great too. And be cautioned, the hot is pretty hot. And I love Hot BBQ sauce.

    Jacks has the brisket.
Pig Iron is just good all around. I recommend the stuffed jalapenos. Those things have me wanting to come up there just for them... and I make a mean stuff pepper myself.

BBQ Pete's is good general BBQ fare. They are the BBQ place at the Puyallup fair every year. The spicy chop was my favorite, get it on their salad and you won't be sad.

I’ve been looking everywhere for an HEB, Las Palapas, Fuzzy’s Tacos, or a Whatabuger...

    ...No luck so far. :(

My wife & I go crazy trying to grocery shop. Get ready to go between 3-4 stores to get what you need. HEB would kill it up here! Definitely hard to find those southern brands that HEB carries all the time. ....and don't get me started on What-A-Burger! (I need a moment of silence) :amen:

Taste is subjective, but Dick's is horrible. The only thing going for it is that it's cheap.

last time I went back to San Antonio, I bought 8 packs of tortillas (160 total) and a new cast iron comal then stuffed it all in my suitcase along with La Fiesta carne guisada, fajita, and Uncle Chris’s steak seasonings.

TSA dude said he impressed with my level of commitment as he searched my bag. I told him he don’t know the struggle when I lived in Indiana. LoL

PS for those following along, its pronounced like an acronym: H-E-B. Not as a single word: “HEEB”.
