Need TW advise with Borla exhaust.

Hi guys!

Finally got some extra cash for a new exhaust i have been wanting for almost 2 years.

I really wanted the TRD exhaust, my buddy has and it sounds perfect, but its 1600$ over here. No way im spending that much money for some sound. Im willing to spend 1000$ max.

I have been looking at this Borla type s exhaust and the price is much better, around $950. I have read a lot on here that it is same as trd exhaust, is that true?

Any of you guys running this exhaust and how do you like it? I want no drone in cab, since i take the highway a lot, and i dont want it to be super loud, something like trd exhaust.

Now, before you guys say that i should get OVT instead and actually see some performance gains, i partly agree, but i really need some sound. Im still unsure about OVT. This engine is quiet and the exhaust is silent, i like to drive with loud music so i constantly have to watch my tach when i drive. Also, im very happy with how my truck drives, no complains except for the throttle response.

My buddy had one on his 3 series, it sound real nice.

 

man I'm sorry you say that i donated my TRD cbe to science and you coulda had it for free. of course that would be quite the drive.

i do still have the tip. if you ever wanted it to add to whatever you get and could get it welded on, lemme know.

Im also curious to know what did you find out about the trd exhaust, guessing you opened it up?

no i just gave it away to a guy. it was in pieces but I didn't cut the muffler.

yeah thats still 700+ for an exhaust that doesnt do anything but sound good

 

Thats exactly what i want, good sound. Its way too quiet as it is now.

 

Idk man. I had an exhaust on my 2nd gen and it was awesome the first day... then it drove me nuts. If you don't want drone at highway, hell, if that's even a concern, don't get one imo.

 

Which exhaust did you have?

I had magnaflow on my ranger and it was quiet unless i stepped on it, and no drone.
