but i have yet to expose my old beater truck to a real nice hail storm, thankfully that has not ever happened in 23 mid west years

and i find that downright amazing! although I may have had to pull off for shelter into a gas station a time or two to avoid falling ice

I have gotten SUPER lucky on that front several times with several of my vehicles. I had a really nice FX4 Lariat F150 that I had just pulled into a parking garage before about quarter sized hail smashed all the things outside. Also, when I first moved in with the wife the house we rented with a few friends, when she was still my GF, had a garage and I had JUST pulled my nearly brand new Mustang GT into the garage probably 15 minutes before we had a huge thunderstorm that involved some pretty large hail as well.

I got caught in hail storms shortly after getting both of my trucks. The tacoma in Nebraska somewhere and the tundra down in oklahoma.

Buddy of mine was traveling for work and his F150 got destroyed by a hailstorm up in south dakota. Had to replace the windshield and there was dents in the roof and all the body panels

Shitty. I would have been so sad if my truck got nuked that day. I liked that truck a lot. I ended up trading it in on a Taurus plus cash because we were driving it so much it was costing us more than our monthly rent just for fuel. At the time I was living in Dewitt and both of us were working in Davenport. It was a super nice truck. I will post up a pic later if I can find one.

Found a couple of pictures. First one is the F150 I was talking about and the second one is the Lightning I sometimes wish I wouldn't have sold.

That was a really fun truck. I had pulled the stock drivetrain out of it (351 Windsor V8 and beefy automatic) because I was going to swap a Coyote drivetrain into it (modern DOHC 5.0 V8 out of the Mustangs) but I had a guy offer me more than I paid for it and I had already sold the drivetrain for almost $3k... So I ended up selling it. It was stupid clean though. The interior was spotless and the exterior had zero rust. It did have a pretty poor respray paintjob, but I was going to fix that as the rest of the truck was so straight.

The black truck is still the most comfortable pickup I have ever owned. Drove awesome and was super comfortable. I am sure I would have gotten rid of it by now if I still had it, but I did regret trading that thing as well even though it also paid me to own it. I traded my Mustang straight up for it and then traded it for a 4 year newer Taurus plus $4000 cash (given to me).

    good to hear

the local news last night said that western IA/eastern NE had the 3rd driest February on record
so i was not hallucinating about the sheer lack of snow or rain here :rain:

the frosty morning dew still lights up the main streets with a fine glazed coating of salt
