Any interest in hitting some of the class 3/4 roads in Vermont, new hampshire on the way? I don't know which ones there are, just that there are some.

Depends. My original plan was Old Orchard Beach Wednesday night and grab a beach day Thursday and pull ice/food up there, meet up on Friday morning somewhere and head up from there. But I heard some guys from PA last year did Mt Washington on the way up, which I would consider that too.

I'm up for the most scenic route, if some wheeling can be thrown in even better. The main thing I've never explored those areas at all. I'd be interested in taking in as much as possible, and learning about area to visit on return trips.

Well. I have Thursday and Friday off work anyway, so I can drop in later on if something materializes for NH, I'll have a plan for either option.

Mt Washington isn't a bad idea, but we didn't hit it last year, at least I didn't.

We did camp in VT the first night, and may again this year, or somewhere near Greene ME (hopefully).

Y'all are welcome to join us either ay the b52 crash or the golden road though, and roll your own day 1 adventure.

This will be my first time up that way, I've been looking at a trip that someone put together called the Appalachian byway. It is pretty mild for the most part, but VT/NH seems to have some decent roads that are open to wheel. If only I had more knowledge of the specific roads and routes.

@Arcticelf can you post hard linkup dates and locations? This may allow me to Google alternative options for traveling up there. I'm coming from Western PA, so will likely cut diagonally through NY and link up north of that somewhere.

last I knew it was Friday meet in millinocket and then go in, out Monday morning. Is anyone ducking out Sunday?

I'll send hard locations by DM this month, those don't get posted publicly for obvious reasons. Especially if we're on private land Friday night

But Saturday around noon at the Maine B52 crash site is a good bet. Then Sunday around noon at the trains.

If you can get my more info on the by way
You have Friday night nailed down yet? I am working on something but I am thinking it would put us at B52 around 2.

Based on last year Id say being at the B52 sometime around 12-2pm would be ideal. Should allow enough time to find a spot to camp and get setup before 11pm

Weird question from a newbie - what's the etiquette for night wheeling with lights in a group when you aren't lead? Full blast and those in front tuck in mirrors? Just curious as newbie :p

try not to blind the person youre following, and aim ditch lights sideways for spread if you need it. light bars shouldnt be necessary. we just wound up getting into NMW late that night. we didnt leave B52 until 4pm? guys from PA/VT were running late.

Two methods Ive seen.. If conditions are good and dust is on the lower side, you can usually follow each other close enough that only the first guy needs a lot of lights. You can use the light from the truck in front of you just like you would on the highway. Alternatively if its super dusty or you want more than a normal amount of space, then just try to keep the guy in front of you as far away as you can and be courteous. And honestly if you're lights are too bright, the guy ahead will just get on the radio and tell you
I think it was even later than that haha

Got it, just curious. I only have stock lights w/ HID converted low beams, nothing like a mini sun.

@Arcticelf are you going to start a group private convo? Is that a thing this site can do? That way us dudes coming from "down south" can group up if we wanted to. I'll be at mile 36 on I95 going up north Friday whenever, happy enough to group up.

We made it past the checkpoint, and it was already sunset. think we got maybe 10 miles onto golden road and it was dark... and someone didnt know how to read a map... we passed by the lake dam campsite at 8:30, and the kids in some of the cars were getting tired, hungry, and sleepy. but it was fun for me.. I was definitly tired.. i was one of the first at greenville trading post. I had left my house around 6:30am.. mostly because I needed some last minute stuff, and check over my gear.

You don't tuck in the mirrors. You need to see the pack to keep a head count. You're not going to outrun stock headlights. Any faster and you're just driving recklessly.
