I was at a house party over a decade ago, and overheard a "financial advisor" blowing smoke up a pretty girl's backside about what he could do for her. As she was a friend of mine, I sauntered over, and said, "I'll tell you the only two words you'll ever need to know. Index. Funds.". Needless to say, the shyster wasn't happy with me.

Hello everyone, potentially planning a last-minute getaway to Dallas and Austin in mid-March. We are big music and outdoors fans. SXSW will be happening while we are in town. I know it is a big deal - will we be able to see live music without buying the $1400 pass for the week?

Expectations for weather? Really any general info to convince us we should come would be cool.

 

Hope you already have a place to stay because the town is overrun during that time. Hotels, AirBnbs, etc.

PLENTY of shows to catch without a pass. I've been doing it for years. Just need to do a bit of research.

 

Ok, good to know. Besides drinking any good parks or hiking opportunities nearby? I know it's Texas but there are some foothills, right?

 

Can't go wrong with the Barton Creek Greenbelt for some hiking and Zilker Park to hang out. If you're in the downtown area for SX, those are a good option.
