I put chains on the front, may do the back as well. I back over small trees beside the creek is probably what happened to it.

That old Popper looks a little forlorn over there. Need some more pics of that!

    Just barely!
Well if you've got it loaded right the tongue weight should only be around 350, including the trailer. And from the angle, it probably had less than that on it. :notsure:

Here's a picture of half the chains when I did this on the front of the bush hog. I forget how many pieces of chain I needed but I went to the local hardware, my boss mans brother in law owns it. I told him how many pieces I needed and he said come here I'll show you how to use the cutter. He made me cut all but one

Jesus, that's way too rich for my blood. When we built the scatter shield on my dad's brush cutter we just went down to the local tire shop and took one of their scrap tires, cut the sidewalls off, and through-bolted the tread onto the cutter

Here’s my 1960 MF35 diesel deluxe. I use it for running round bales to the cows, snow removal, brush hogging, digging post holes, generally moving things, pulling trailers around, getting firewood, and spreading wood chips to build a few roads. It’s also great for joy rides around the hayfield with the kids. In the coming years it’s likely to start making square bales in our field once we take it over from the farmer who is haying it now

Nice, wish mine was diesel. Perkins 3.152? Great little diesel! I'm rockin' the Continental z134 gasser, starts real easy (so do those Perkins'!), only run ethanol free fuel in it and haven't had any issues for the most part. I always thought that if I could find a beat up 35 with a diesel for cheap enough that I'd swap it out, but anymore that just feels like too much work for how often (or not often) I use the machine. It'd have to be the right price.

Yep it’s the 3.152, I like it a lot. I’ve been doing what I can to give it some TLC, it wasn’t taken care of the best before I got it in 2017, it leaks here and there but nothing major. I’ve done all fluids and filters, repaired a few leaks, re-done the brakes and almost all the electrical and gauges. I’m pretty sure my generator doesn’t work anymore, looking into the alternator conversion. I also installed a block heater cause it definitely needs it to start easily once the cold weather hits. It sees a lot of rough work in brush and woods so getting it to look pretty would be a losing battle, but I’m hoping I can keep it mechanically solid for years to come.

Only thing I wish I had was 4x4, power steering and a loader, but those are items for the next tractor I guess. Gotta save the pennies.

For sure! I'm in the same boat as far as TLC. I bought mine non-running for $1000. Put about $7-800 into it, maybe. Need to replace a power steering line (mine's a 35 Utility, so came with heavy solid front axle, smaller rear tires ((14.9x24)) loader w/ crankshaft driven front hydraulic gear pump, two stage clutch, shuttle shift which is sweet) and I need to fix my rear main rope seal. It leaks like a sieve. If I could just stop those two leaks, my only complaint would be lack of 4x4.

If your generator isn't working, check your ammeter. If you replaced the ammeter with a voltmeter then you need to fabricate a load (like the shunt on the back of the old ammeter) to excite the generator into charging, or just rephase the genny if it lost it's magnetic phasing.

I'm the same way, if you saw my machine a few posts back, it looks rough and I intend to keep it that way. I've beat on it pretty darn good and it hasn't let me down yet. Painting it would be a waste, I'd get upset if it got scratched. Looking like it does, no worries!

You going to have the bores machined, or just cross your fingers and run it? They looked pretty gunky in that picture.

The 140's actually have replaceable liners in them. I've never done one so I'm interested what the outcome is with this one

Aha, that explains why it looked like it had been sleeved previously, then.

Ive read about methods to re-polarize the generator, and maybe it’s as simple a fix as that, I just haven’t gotten around to it. I try to push non-essential work to when I have warmer weather. Luckily this old tractor starts and runs and does all I need it to do as long as the wiring for the starter and battery are good haha. I’ve just put my battery on a charger a couple times now since I don’t think the generator is charging it during use. I think a modern tractor with all the electronics would drive me nuts. Heard of too many people taking their new tractors in the the dealer multiple times cause some electronic thing is keeping the thing from starting.

The old 12V tractors with generators and external voltage regulators, if they give me any trouble I put one of these on it. Built in voltage regulator and fairly cheap. They work great for things that don't have a lot of electrical needs, like a tractor

Here's a video of a guy removing a liner that was stuck. It's an A but I think it's the same engine (C123)

Muldoon should be able to use that alt with ease, my tach is driven off my generator. Yesterday’stractors.com sells a Denso 10si with the tach drive already on it for $100. Not a bad deal. It’s the route I’ll eventually go.
