Any power gains from a cold air intake

Hello all! I have a 2002 Tacoma base model 2-wheel drive 2.4. I'm just curious if I would get any noticeable power gains from a performance cold air intake such as a K & N? Has anyone had any experience with this? Not sure if I'm going to or not just considering it as these 4 bangers don't have much horse power. How much would it cost? Is it worth the $$$?

Make one from your stock box using the "deckplate mod". Its as effective as anything else labelled "cold air intake" and costs like 20 bucks.

 

It'll feel like it has more power because it's louder, but that's about it.

They also negate the ability to throw a snorkel on there if you want to go that route.

 

Only if you have a placebo favorable personality and if your butt dyno correlates noise to power.

I only want to add a cold air intake to mine to make it easier to get to the coil packs on my 2.7l,sorry who this offends but snorkels is just too much

 

I like mine , makes the Supercharger louder once on boost !!!!

 

Money well spent, a K&N cold air intake should add at least 25HP to a 4 banger.

Only power gains I've noticed is power over all the other mall crawlers. She asserts her dominance while I go shopping..

 

I notice better throttle response with mine especially being a MT with my 5 lug. People here will say this or that but in the end the deck plate was found effective through testing.

K&N drop in or dry drop in of ur choice, and deckplate it. Call it a day. Don't need to cap the deck plate unless your mudding, sinking the truck, or trailing in the dust

 

not gonna make ur 4 cyl go apeshit, but if u go bigger tires or want a lil more response then get it. I don't regret mine

US Marine that looks pretty cool! Does that cause it to throw any codes or illuminate the check engine light?
