Great idea. I’ll have to keep this in mind. I wonder if it’ll work for 10 y.o. dogs too.

Since I have long-eared Boykin Spaniels, I am very used to dealing with ear infections. I have messed with my dog's ears and feet since they came home from the breeder, but when it's time for drops, they seem to sense it. I usually get the bottle of drops and play with the dog while the bottle is in my hand. The dogs notice the bottle and tense up at first but after a few moments, they forget and then I roll them on their side and put a few drops in. Treats are always given after drops.
Sometimes, they are not very willing to take the drops and I just hold them down and put the drops in because, like I said, it's my job to make sure they get what they need. But still, treats are always given after drops.

You can definitely try. Sometimes, Riley falls asleep wheels up. I'll grab one of his rear paws and and with my thumb, feel in between the pads-he's not woken up at any point.

I've also worked on "open" so I can pill him easier. It's crazy. The vet techs are always wary of him when going in for the temp...he just stands there. Same for when the vet does her exam.

Not mine but my girlfriend needed help house sitting for someone who has 2 adult male Leonbergers. This was my 1st time with this breed, biggest things I've ever met. Couple of big spoiled brats once you introduce yourself, but I'll be damned if my heart wasn't pounding as I walked through the door!

Boomer hated the drops at first now he just lays there for me, looks all sad and pitiful, but he does not resist at all.

To get him to accept it, I set the bottle on the wife's dresser, which is next to his bed. I sat on his bed beside the dresser and gentlely rubbed his eats, which would help me to get him to lay his head on my lap. One I had him that way I would reach up and grab the bottle while rubbing his ear with the other hand, open the bottle with my teeth, then slip the tip in his ear and squeeze a bit in before he realized what was up. I could drop the bottle and rub his ears, once he felt the medicine and my rubbing he would relax again though at first it took a few minutes. While rubbing his head and ear I would roll him over, this was the tough since part he is about 90 lbs. Once he was rolled over I was able to do the other ear just as I did the first.

Now he is seven and will just come sit in front of me and allow me to put the drops in with no struggle. I think he has learned that after 2 or 3 days he is feeling better so it is worth it. He still HATES the ear wash and will either pull away or push against me trying to get me to stop.
He loves the towel and ear rubs that follows the wash though.

After the first day of drops, now as soon as he sees or feels the bottle, he freaks the fuck out.

The poppies are going crazy in the backyard so I decided to get some shots with the DSLR. Sadie decided to find out what the hell was going on. She got bored and starting hunting for lizards. Her favorite thing to do when we're not out hunting pheasant.

Well, not up to loading up in the truck yet, but did manage this today all by himself.
And chased the drone a little bit.

Oh, he also hates the ear flush bottle for some reason.
So I dont give him any choice.
Hes a good patient for everything but ear cleaning its just his pet peeve I guess.

It's a small lot in a residential neighborhood. But it's a good spot with a nice view. Not too bad if you have to live in Oakland, Ca.

A PG&E guy came around today. He kept saying "please keep the dog inside". Imagine if he saw that on his neck.

For people who come around and say "keep the dog inside", I want to say "hey, he lives here, you don't"...
