What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Oooooohh that's right, being a projector now, you can do this black out mod to the reflector and it actually doesn't worsen the light output or visibility, AND you get the good look.
Most happily add some 'black out' effect and lessen the light output or visibility.

It’s been 4 years for me... $$$ but I’m also overbuilding it... with new oem shit that I really don’t need

 

Mine has to be running in the next couple months. I’m not going to miss out on wheeling season! This frame is going to the back yard, it’s next winters project. I have a beaut of a 98 Tacoma that’s got a broken frame. Rusted right out. So I’ll swap that onto this. I needed the front end, the suspension, etc for the prerunner, to make it my wheeling pig.

 

RE- front wheel bearings.

I'm convinced the hard part is getting it setup properly in the press. So I built a press fixture, got it to move a touch, bent my fixture, reinforced my fixture, then got stuck.



Version 2.0 needed.

 

Weak, I got mine out with two sockets and a mallet in the pep boys parking lot.

 

I did 45 trucks like that, dont know what you are doing wrong!
In all seriousness that job looks like a bitch. Stay clear incase it launches out of there your guts dont end up on the garage floor!!

 

Time to put two more bottle Jacks on the top bar haha. Or you can block the over pressure valve on the 12t jack and it'll push a lot more... I might've done that before bending my whole press

It's a specialty tool because it has pretty much one purpose. Thus "specialty"... meaning it's "specialty" (and sole purpose) is to pull/press bearings.

How is that not a "specialty" tool?

And how did this go from a dude @Squeaky Penguin asking if his press will work to... "You should just get the OTC tool" which cost $470, to what a shop does or doesn't have?

Also... you mention rust belt states... @Squeaky Penguin lives in Arizona... how does that have anything to do with what we're talking about here?


And... as I'm thinking about where you may have come up with that comment sbout a shop. It may be where I said a shop rarely even uses the OTC tool... which is true... because considering all the other repairs a shop does... how often do the do wheel bearings? "Rarely" in comparison to other repairs. Especially because vehicles today have more and more hub assemblies that don't even require a press, or an OTC tool... or anything more than a socket wrench to remove 4 bolts.

Because I don't care to debate it, you're convinced you have the end all be all view on things and that's fine now that I realize it.
