They are starting the first E9 panel this year. I made it off award points, time in service, Eval’s, the test, and pure luck!

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
They got rid of all of that. Its all based off evals and what the board is looking for each year. Yay.

Nah man, the young kid is out of shape and I bet his better half had him trekking everywhere.

It’s on my bucket list for sure and I’m super envious of Matt and his lady friend!

Did you get your CO to write up a Special Eval for your E8 package? Or do they do that in the Ari Force? I had a good year, and my CO wrote up an excellent Special Eval when I was up for Chief (E7). I think it made a huge difference to the Board, and I was selected.

I was beat up after skiing yesterday so hung out at home all day. Went to vote, but spent some time in the backyard with the DSLR. Sadie was out looking for lizards but was also wondering what the hell I was doing along the lower fence line.

Wait. What? I must have read this wrong, then. So, you're saying you made Board, but not yet Selected? Man, don't want to jinx, you. Sorry.

CG does it a little differently. I tested in 2019 and was high enough on the list to “make the cut”. They are only advancing two E9’s this year and I have to wait for them retire. Once they do I and the other guy will advance. Making the cut or being above the cut means I am guaranteed to make it this year.

    Sure feels like it

Lexi killed me on this hike. Me and the other couple we were with. One in the other couple gave their bags to a mule passing. The last mile and a half killed me since it’s nothing but uphill switch backs. Lexi finished waaaay before anyone in our group, dropped her stuff off up top, and ran back down to hang with us.

From camp, it was just over 11 miles to the exit and I did it in just under 5 hours, including pew and food breaks since we ate breakfast during the hike. I’ll take that as a win since there was over 2500 feet of climbing with most of it being in the last mile and a half.

Are you going to stay in long enough to Pin on E9? Thought I saw you were getting out. And if so, don't you have to have time in rate to collect retirement at E9 level?

Does this just mean you're being transferred elsewhere? And not retiring?

I’m going to take E9 and go for my high 3 with it. I was on the fence with retiring if I wasn’t making it but as the cards fell, I’m making it so I’ll stick it out just a little bit longer.

Doesn't work like that. We have what is called stratification. If your squadron thinks you good enough they push you to the Wing (base) level. Then they rack and stack there for top 10% of eligible E7s. I haven't been here long enough, nor care enough to fight and do the bullshit to get to that point. My body knows it wants to be done.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I thank God my body must be accustomed to the pollens here in the Central Valley.

But I have a whole lot of empathy for those who it effects.

I lived in Arkansas for 2 years. The pollen was so thick, in the spring, that everyone's car looked yellow... and when it would rain the run off looked like little yellow streams flowing everywhere.

Oh my God it was miserable.
