Radios should come today. Probably won't get to do anything with them until this weekend though. Gonna get some use out of the soldering kit I got a while back.

    No idea.

I passed through there in November. Wish I'd gotten more time in the area, and also that I hadn't just come from a tropical island to Alaska in November...

Five years, eleven months, five days... Can't wait.

Yep, that'd sure enough shock your system.

It's worth it, without my active duty time and my wife of almost 36 yrs I don't know where I'd be.

Thank you for your service. :oldglory:

Sweet jesus. $38k is a lot for a truck...
If high payments are his issue, just sacrifice in other areas until you can refinance...

Or don't buy a truck you can't afford in the first place.

And this is why I drive a 1st gen instead of a 3rd gen. Although, in this area I probably could have had a better equipped 2nd gen for less...

$38k is actually pretty reasonable for a (New) truck nowadays... Been looking at some full sizes and those are in the high 40’s to mid 60’s.
But you’re right, don’t buy something you can’t afford...shoulda put that mod money toward the principle.

Wasn't that truck cheaper than 38K new? If so, how far in the red was he on his last vehicle to have a 38K pay off

I learned my lesson with cars when I had my old Jeep. Was irresponsible and got a Jeep I couldn't afford. Modded the hell out of it and barely got by making minimum payments. Eventually I couldn't get by anymore so I had to get rid of it. Traded it for my Taco. Between what I owed on the Jeep and it's trade in value, my loan was about $17,500. Just paid the truck off 10 months early in Feb. Never will that happen again. Either doing cash or putting enough down to get a 36mo loan at a decent rate.

Guess I won't be buying any new trucks. I remember looking at a new Silverado a few years back. Was $42k and that was stupid expensive to me. Always thought the higher end full size trucks were up that high. Didn't realize the dinky Tacos and all that were getting up there, too.

So 2yrs of payments and you're 1K above new price

You figure $500 a month would be 12K paid. Go 9K towards principal(I assume bad percentage rate). He should be somewhere in the 27K range.
