I have a 2010 Double Cab TRD O.R. Short Bed recently installed Bilsteins 5100's all around.
    Currently running 265/70/R17 Tires.
Load 2 dirt bikes every other weekend.

Whats the best coil for my use? 884 or 885's? Also, any recommendations for rear or should the factory rears be enough?

    Hi 92,
I think the 885's would be a good choice for you, it would lift your front end up 2 1/2 inches. The ride is great. I have OME Dakar CS047R Leaf Packs in the back. These lift my back end 3" and support my shell and gear great. Leaf packs would support your bikes and other gear as well and ride great. I suggest leaf packs instead of AAL's in your case.
I had AAL's and it sagged to much for me.

I'd stay on the lowest setting you don't want to stress the shocks and cause breakage. Do you have springs?

No need for UCA's at 2 1/2 ". It 3" or more is when you need UCA's.
After you do your suspension get an alignment.

Greatly appreciate the feedback! Ordering 885's for sure then. Should I set the Bilsteins to stock height with these coils?
Hows the ride quality on rugged terrain?

    Hi 92,
I would recommend leaving the 5100's at 0, Your 2 1/2 inch lift is going to come from your 885's. You will be amazed on how it rides off road and on road. No dipping when braking or leaning.

Does anyone have insight as to why the OME 885's are now only recommended with Nitrochargers?

Hi MFrantz, I did a lot of research when I was looking for the lift I wanted and saw this also. I went off of others that used Bilsteins with OME springs and they all said they fit perfect and liked the ride better than someone that had the Nitrochargers. They both are OME products and I am sure marketed in this way.

Most aftermarket manufacturers shy away from recommending/supporting/warrantying their stuff when used with other manufacturer's parts. Definitely to drive sales of their own stuff but also technical reasons (impossible to support all the potential combinations out there). IIRC Bilstein doesn't even warranty use of 5100s with any spring other than stock toyota springs. But they will also invalidate the warranty for "off-road driving", so its not worth much anyway to keep things on your truck "warranty compliant," IMO.

Huh that's odd I use Bilstein pro lift springs 2.5"/620lb on my 5100 and was told I'm good to go when it comes to warranty.

I read a couple sob stories about warranty coverage denial on 5100s when I was researching shocks to buy, although what they actually will/won't cover may be on more of a case-by-case basis. I've never tried to warranty a Bilstein myself.

The Bilstein of America warranty terms have a lot of room for interpretation:
I imagine like 90% of TW member's trucks could be denied warranty coverage based on the modified vehicles or off-road driving restrictions. I'm sure the use of non-OEM springs could count as a "modified or other than Bilstein-recommended vehicle".

Yeah I agree that it is quite a grey area. I will say that it is obscenely cheap to replace Bilsteins and I would be hard pressed to go through the channels for warranty replacement ... Now if we are talking $500-$1000 shock range you can bet that I will do my damnedest to get warranty lol

I do know Bilstein has stated almost any ome spring (except 886 due to heavier spring rate) will work well. That isn't to say they'll help you out when the shock takes a crap.

JL audio 700 watt custom sound system with 10" subwoofer, Bilstein 5100 2” suspension lift with Icon 1.5” AAL in rear, front skid-plate upgrade and oversized Falken tires.
Great results after 18 months with Bilstein 5100 2.5” suspension lift with 1.5”(2.25” keep all stock leafs <—what I did) Icon progressive AAL installed on rear and oversized P265/70/17 FALKEN WILDPEAK tires.

    PROS
    1. Ride Comfort and looks.
    2. Less body rollover (turning)
    3. Un-noticeable change in MPG
    4. No excessive modding required. (Ex: No need to change OEM springs, UCAs, or modify break lines)
    5. Slightly better payload/towing capacity.

    CONS
    1. Very slight rubbing on front aero flap at full turn. (can easily be fixed/removed)
    2. Very slight squeak after 6 months on larger bumps. This could be regular truck aging. (can easily be fixed with WD40 & buddy to help locate noise)

You only got 2" of lift in the front with the Bilstein 5100/885 setup? What are you running for an AAL?

hi!! What are you running on the back for suspension? I’m doing the same for the front of my Tacoma but am unsure what to do for the back. Yours looks great!
