I'm looking to build a sleeping platform/ drawer system for my truck. I'm not too experienced with woodworking so I'll probably build something more on the simple side. I do mow some yards so something that's is easily removable is what I'm looking for. I've seen the ones where you build 2 boxes over the wheel wells and a sheet of plywood lies in a notch and you can remove the plywood easily when you need to haul something. I'm open to all ideas. I'd been great if someone had some dimensions and what not.

I saw another member do this a while ago, since then I have made something very similar. The side rails on 2nd gens line up perfectly with 2x10s but I'm not sure what you could do with a first gen

There are a lot of different sleeping platforms on this forum. I just searched titles only on this forum only and saw many.

This is a very quick and basic setup using a sheet of plywood for the platform and some PVC and fittings for legs. I sized the platform based on the sleeping pad I use and put some cutouts to carry fuel or water containers. For storage I just bought some plastic storage containers that I can add or remove as needed. The whole thing is lightweight and modular based on what I'm doing.

This is nice. How did you attach the pvc to the plywood?

Thank you. I used flat PVC end caps with a hole drilled in the middle, attached using a carriage bolt through the plywood. Then the legs just slip into the end caps.

I got a 2x8 and two 2x4s to build supports that fit into the notches in my bed liner. Then cut a sheet of plywood to length. Instead of permanent drawers, I keep camping supplies in a low-height Rubbermaid container meant to store shoes under a bed. Very low-effort and I don't use it much but it works for me when I do use it!

Thank you for saving my brain. Sometimes it's the simple answer.

Here’s mine, easily removable and has storage in the cubbies on the sides.
