I ride the hollow 169 indys on my setup right now. They aren’t the titanium ones, but I can definitely feel the weight difference from the regular 169s. I usually ride a 9” or 9 1/4” board. Venture just came out with 8.75” truck which is another good option, and still made in the USA.

I ride standards(169/149/215)so i can’t give you a opinion on either other than knowing there’s a significant lighter weight difference in both like you mentioned compared to standards and prices are higher. If you’re considering trying them out than go for it.

My buddy got a set if the forged titanium Indy's and is very happy with them, they are noticeably lighter than an old set of original indy's or trackers, he looked at the hollow ones but chose the titaniums.

I still have two sets of standard Indy 169’s from the late 80’s early 90’s that i ride.Stage 5-7(yr’s 1986-1992)i believe based on when i purchased them back in the day.

The more recent yr Indy standards that i purchased back in 2018/2019 (169/149/215)stage 10 and 11 are noticeable lighter as well than our earlier stages but not as light as the hollow/titanium.I’m actually thinking of swapping out the earlier stage 169 Indy’s for the more recent one’s that i have on my Roskopp target 1 re issue because the board feels like a tank, hehe!

yea I don't blame you, once you go lighter, there ain't no looking back lol. His Indy titaniums are stage 11 I believe, they definitely look different.

Don’t know if ya’ll have seen these or are interested but i pre ordered the Roskopp last August(2019)and will be receiving it in the mail next week. This will be a collector and i won’t be doing any personal artwork to it.

I have a bucket list plan hopefully to fulfill someday to get a hold of Rob and have him sign it.That’s all i want on the board is his signature. He owns Santa Cruz Mountain Bikes in Santa Cruz,CA.so eventually i’ll attempt to reach out and make the trip up north if it’s possible to accomplish.0975B1A0-E806-49A0-A43C-2549EA5B1098.jpg 6C620CF0-F0F4-41B5-8032-100A98FD05F4.jpg

Trucks are a very interesting part of skateboard history to me. Bennett, ACS, Oak st., etc. were the brands popular when I started skating. But imho, I believe Independent did more for skateboarding than any other company period. There are collectors out there that collect only trucks and you would be surprised at what they pay. Gullwing split axles, Tracker magnesium, and Z-Rollers come to mind. FFF4BAE9-88B8-4D21-B45B-06049619105F.jpg92A6329D-4D45-4ED4-B9D5-A1C846C0BA50.jpgDC5E3636-2E02-4329-9684-0AC93B57253B.jpg

One of the old VHS skate vids had trucks with flint glued into a bunch of vertical holes across the back truck between the wheels. They had some killer night shots, I still want to try that.

Thanks for all the replies on trucks, this got me motivated to stop by the skate shop and set up an old board. I hadn't really thought about it when moving to newer decks around 2000, but wider decks feel better for things like railslides and cess (sp?) slides and I pretty much stopped downhilling with narrower boards which were better at the time because they were lighter.

This Lance Mtn has a perfect tail for ollies, prob twice as steep as that Grosso deck and steep concave. I'm just torn if I should grid up this deck as it's the only 'new' one I kept lol.

    upload_2020-3-4_11-4-58.jpg

Digging in the garage I found my '87 Burton Elite 140 with swallow tail and a stainless steel fin that mounts between the bindings. The plastic bindings literally disintegrated into broken parts on the garage floor. I found another old trashed Lance Mtn deck, have no idea what year it is from.

I tried those Z-roller trucks (not mine), they were always advertised in Thrasher. They felt like wheels on smooth curbs but when they hit a notch they would seem like they hung up more than regular trucks. One of my launchramps was in a Blockhead ad in Thrasher, I should find it as I have no pictures of my old ramps.

I would not skate the doughboy if it is nos. At one time you could pick them up for cheap but not anymore. Plenty of reissues to choose from these day.

I’d hold onto that board! That’s from like 1990 and sells for like $300+.Lance is a fantastic person as i’ve been fortunate enough to spend some time with him. He’s a all time favorite of mine. He’s currently been doing his own time capsule collection limited edition numbered boards. He did a John Lucero and Tommy Guerrero. The packaged goods sold out in a few minutes.
