No prob. I did a LOT of research on this. I saved a lot over a few years, and had it tied up for a while. When I could invest it, I had to make the same decision as you. It's overwhelmingly better to dump it in. You can't time the market, and dollar cost averaging underperforms lump sum in most cases (unless you're very unlucky). I saw my initial investment go up, then get destroyed (late 2018), then go up a lot (2019), now you know what's happening. I haven't regretted it one bit.

    This is the answer!

If you do that, and then remember that your portfolio is like a bar of soap, the more you mess with it, the smaller it will get, you will succeed.

The average retail investor's returns are way below the market returns (probably due to soap analogy above). Buying SPY whenever you are able and sitting back would put you in the top 99% of all investors I'd bet.

    copy all.

so do i split between my two biggest mutual funds? USSPX and USNQX? or would you pump it into one?

As for HOW to invest, I can't really help you there. I would just say, formulate a plan ahead of time that you plan to stick with for the next 10+ years. Dump it into that in whatever proportion you plan to utilize (50/50 or 25/75 or however you plan to do it). I don't think it matters much if you are willing to weather all ups and downs, not sell, and keep buying. I have 34 stocks that I roughly equally weight (I am a dividend investor), but funds are probably less risky.

    gotcha.

I auto invest $100 each month into USSPX so I did 1K into USSPX and 2K into USNQX (considering it has the highest returns of all my MFs)

I like that "bar of soap" analog.

You just have to have a plan and stick to it. Even if it's not the best plan, it's better than no plan.

Just wondering, why do you use mutual funds instead of ETFs? Wouldn't SPY or VOO be cheaper to use as a vehicle for the S&P 500 than USSPX? Or QQQ instead of USNQX? I really don't know, just thinking it might be.

Holy moly going up to 4%... stair stepping back up today.

If I rotate my 401k back in I'll get everything at a 3% discount. Tomorrow is a make or break for me if I do nothing.

I have been reading about ETFs more. Need to learn me up some more and yes, eventually might transfer into ETFs.

I eat a lot of soup for dinner during the week, coronavirus or not. That probably has a lot to do with the investing success I have had ($1.50 for dinner). Those preppers better not buy it all up!
