Didn't know about this one would have tried it first. I bought the one from URD for 127.00. It goes on the down stream sensor (back one).

I wouldn't call the O2 simulators a 'fix'...just tricks the ECU into not seeing the problem. If you have a lean or rich condition that caused the cat to fail in the first place resulting in the P0420 code, that's still going to be there and in the long run those conditions will create more problems if not sorted out

They're really intended IMO to help buy you time to get the real problem sorted in case you have to pass smog someplace like CA, where the CEL will cause you to fail and not be allowed to register your truck

true I had mine checked hooked up a scanner that monitored everything. After changing both cats and both sensors. Engine was running smooth, gas mileage was good 19mpg. CEL kept coming back faulting rear sensor. With diag showing everything within specs, I decided to put simulator on. So did I "fix it" no, But everyone I talked to said screw it just run it. Couldn't stand CEL staying on.

The CEL will go off on it's own if the problem is corrected. If the problem is simply a bad sensor, you can get a new OEM O2 sensor for about the same price as that URD simulator.

My concern with using that simulator is that if you do end up with an exhaust leak or bad cat someday then you won't know it until it becomes so bad it effects performance, gas mileage, etc because you won't get a code for it now

Simulators are advertised and sold as an off road part because it is a criminal offense to knowingly alter any pollution control system

My URD 7th injector kit hooked up to my supercharger is also advertised as a racing/offroad part only haha. Due to emissions laws in some states.

What the smog tech don't see though don't hurt him

Slap a "Causes Cancer" warning sticker on it. U B OK.
Running cat defeaters may turn off the CEL but at what long term expense?

The downstream o2 sensor has nothing to do with the p0420... right??

I would think the rear would have more to do with it...if exhaust is going through and your cats are bad then the rear sensor is going to read that and toss a code
