From what I understand, your leafs SHOULDN'T out flex your shocks. You don't want your shocks limiting your travel.

    EDITED because I can't type...

    Correct.

Hence the need for bump stops, unless you shock relocate then you can go ahead and look into limit straps (with custom leaf etc)

Shit, my sausage fingers miss-typed that. I meant to say that your leafs SHOULDN'T outflex your shocks.

I've seen plenty of setups using say...a dakar leaf pack flexing like crazy...with a shock relocation. Tons of builds posted throughout.

If the leaf packs flex can exceed that of our 8" traveling shocks in their stock location....our shocks become the inhibitor in this case.

Yeah, it's likely the case that it doesn't matter for most folks since most don't really max out the travel very much, and when they do, it's probably slow rock crawling type stuff, so you aren't shock loading the shocks with a big hard hit. Just not ideal.

If I'm going to hack everything off and essentially design my own suspention and throw some expensive shocks on it, I want to protect teh shocks.
