You will spend the same amount on a different truck and find different things wrong with it. That’s just the nature of the beast.

One gripe I have is with the cruise control. If I have cruise set and it needs more power it will drop down and hit the 4k rpm range, which is fine. However, it seems to get hung up there even after you top a hill or whatever. Like it's stuck in that gear for a lot longer then it needs to be before finally shifting back up. So, I just haven't been using cruise control that much.

I'm looking at getting a transmission temp gauge and test it out. Set it to cruise, let it do its thing and see if the transmission temp is hitting crazy high numbers. If not, I'll just let it do it's thing and not try to be smarter than the engineers that designed the powertrain.

Just leave the headlights on, they turn themselves off when the car is turned off. Turned mine “on” the day I got it and haven’t turned them off manually since.

Sorry about the auto. If I didn’t drive manual I probably would have purchased a different truck, the auto in this thing blows.

Just an update for anyone who is curious, got the truck back from the dealer after supposedly adding more foam to the hood. I cannot tell the difference. Taking it back tomorrow to meet with the service manger. Slightly bummed, hoping they have a better solution tomorrow.

just looked at my 2020 and have the same issue. Bought in January and noticed a lot of good flexing when I was on the highway. Have an appointment for next Friday.

After showing the Service Tech my situation. I have to call the body shop and discuss with them. I may try a fix myself.

Also surprised that the truck doesn’t have automatic headlights for the price point.

Not to sound like an elitist or anything, but I got a manual because of all the talk about the automatic hunting for gears.

I am in AZ as well. Not sure what dealership is doing your work, but it didn't surprise me that they did not get it right. I had a fender flare issue on mine and I had to take the truck in 4 times to finally get it properly repaired. This included two visits to the body shop.

    This x100.

Not saying you're one of them OP, but a lot of people who complain on these forums are the type who drive down a washboarded road and claim their tires feel unbalanced. It's hard to take a lot of it seriously. There are people here who have had to go back 2 or 3 times for the same issue and then come to the forums and shit all over every Toyota ever made from 1980 to 2020 because they were inconvenienced.

Why not just leave it in 5th? Is this not the 1st overdrive which is the same as the gen2 5th? This should keep it at a slightly higher rpm.

This is exactly what I do. They'll turn themselves off in a minute or so so I just leave them on.

Chrome exhaust tip! Me too! Everyone is getting black, I think the chrome looks better. Maybe I'm just old school.

Hmm, I have auto headlights with auto high beam. I thought that Auto headlights is standard on TRDs?

Transmission wont get better, its just a flaw in their gearing. it will hunt even after break in, fix = regear otherwise what you get now is what you will get. just my two cents. I was hoping same way that it would settle and be better, multiple visits to reprogram and still same, in end end up doing regear regret not doing it day 1.

Yeah the EPA test is flat ground good weather at 55 or something like that.

When I'm on the highway I run at sequential 5th a lot. It doesn't get as good MPG going downhill, but it has enough tq going uphill most times it doesn't need to pull to 4th. Less shifts and less time in 4th, ends up being better MPG overall, doesn't hunt for gears like everyone complains about - and even at that, when I run in S6 or D it doesn't hunt enough to annoy me like everyone complains about, I'm sure it was worse in '16s but Toyota has done programming, they can flash to the older trucks too.

Huh. This idea never crossed my mind, I only ever use sequential for engine braking. There's a lot of gradual uphills where I live that kick from 6th>4th>5th>6th>4th>5th>you get the idea. Gonna try suggesting 5th next time I'm on one and see what happens.
