Its because of the required specs for oil in all the newer vehicles. The tolerance in newer engines are so tight so manufactures can squeeze every mpg out they can get.

Oil reps have told me that anything with a viscosity under 10w30 made to meet oil spec SN (about 6 to 8 years now) have always been a synthetic blend even if not specified on the bottle.

Plus they say it's actually cheaper for them to produce a bottle of synthetic than it is a bottle of conventional oil. So I ask why is synthetic 3x the price.....they just smile......

Hey @68dave, did you possibly used to own, or someone in your family own a Green F100 in the Canton area?

Also, how do I go about bringing my shocks to you to have my springs swapped out to 700lb big guns? Would it be easier to bring you my whole truck? Take the shocks off and bring them to you? Ill happily compensate for your time!

Well, walmart in partictular wants to push their “supertech” brand recycled oils and now they don’t even carry any gear oil but that brand.

Every time i go to autozone, they aren’t carrying 5w30 conventional either.

I have noticed this ever since i bought the 4runner...

Sunsabitches. Guess i’ll have to try to find a case of 5w30 conventional valvoline.

I really do not want to put synthetic in a motor with 235k that has never seen a drop of synthetic in its life. It might start leaking or jinx it

My local Advance Auto has convetional 5w-30. I've had good luck with syn blends in high mileage motors. By good luck I mean they haven't leaked oil or blown up. I ran the castrol gtx high mileage in my Ranger (140k when I sold it) and I run that or Napa 5w30 in my fam's 99 Civic Si (130k, revs to 8k) without issue.

I looked in to those zinc additives. Which one do you use? I'm not familiar with them. I was going to try the Amsoil z rod oil, but all amsoil is synthetic and I wanted to stick with conventional.

Thank you! I did look in to Lucas high zinc conventional, but its a little hard to get locally. I have to order it which isn't a big deal. Its definitely more expensive than normal conventional oil + the zinc additive.

@Minimag95 I messaged that person about the ramps. They said it was available and I asked the size and I think they ghosted on me :(

Sorry for all the individual posts...I'm bad at multi quote...

Yea I owned a beautiful 72 f100 sport custom with the upper & lower trim package 302 c4 auto ps pb. It had15x8 chrome wheels with chrome baby moon caps. I bought it from a old man that was the original owner. Wish I still had that truck. I sold it to a guy in Freeland, Md. I still have the original hubcaps to that truck. Just bring the struts & new springs. No compensation neccessary.
