Anyone smoked the corned beef briskets before from the supermarkets? They're all hitting sale prices and coupons galore, and I could be convinced to do my first smoke of the season soon. I should be able to control it with 50 degrees and sunny on Sunday. Get this show on the road! Curious if anyone has done one and if it's worth it to buy them when they're on sale.

    YES!

I prefer to make them pastrami.. but either way you will want to soak them in water to pull out some of the salt.. a couple of hours at most and changing the water a couple of times.

then.. throw it in the smoker as is.. or rub it with a pastrami rub ( https://amazingribs.com/tested-recipes/spice-rubs-and-pastes/katzs-pastrami-rub ) and smoke that... either way.. slice it thin and enjoy the hell out of it!!

Considering how cheap they are on sale right now....I can make a pastrami and a regular :D thanks for the heads up, I'll soak it first. Good to know I'll head out to the stores and stock up on the cheap ones :D and maybe some sausages since those are my favorite. Here's hoping we aren't on shift Sunday and I don't have shift coverage! Otherwise I can only start at noon.

If you have to start later, you will likely have to run hotter temps to get it done in a decent time.. hopefully you don't have to work and can take your time! Have fun experimenting!

You likely know this already but the 4 seaters are LONG and have a lot larger turning radius then a regular SxS. I went with the regular for that reason but I spend a lot of time during hunting season in thick woods. But I can turn that sucker on a dime and go places that a quad can go.

Built a box for the bed for the dog and gear during hunting season.

Just started it last weekend after sitting for 4 months and fired up. Not only have heat have AC LOL. Sporting Clays season starts soon and have a box for the back that double as a seat with arm rests for 2 passangers on the back. Of course don't want to go faster than 10 mph with people sitting on the back. And they always fight to ride up front in the cab with the AC. And stay out of the bugs.

It has been a good investment for me even though it can certainly be considered a toy

Most importantly of all the dog likes it

Had an electric one for years until it died but hated cleaning it. Although they are hard to beat and worth it IMO. Ended up getting a jerky cutting board to replace it

A lot slower and not always as consistent but it works. But at some point will likely get an electric slicer again.

My best bud is the Director of Supplier Quality at Polaris, they make some cool stuff. I'd like an ATV, but already have too many toys.

Yes sir I do know the turning radius isn't great. My major thing with wanting the 4 passenger is my wife and daughter want to be able to go out at the same time and have some fun so a SxS isn't going to allow that for me. I have some time before I can get one but it would be great for when we go camping and such. It will be very useful for us and also a great toy. :)

Nice! It's a small world! 2019 was our 5oth year anniversary and my buddy and I came up with this logo for some T shirts and such.. we also used it on one side of a special edition Challenge Coin.. it would look pretty good on a few other things that we maybe should talk about some time LOL My dept is all volunteer and this year will be my 18th... time to start thinking how to fill my free time when I retire!

That's awesome man, I have mad respect for all you who put your life on the line to help others. Let us know what you're looking for. We do all the retirement plaques and other things for the department he works for. Just did a new one (no pics yet) for retirement that mounts their helmet and a fire axe on the board with all the engraving. Looked pretty freaking cool.

Yea.. we are definitely going to have to talk! We just had one of our founding members retire... served for 50+ years and I feel like he's still be there but time has caught up with his body ya know.. Some people just wanna wear the t-shirt.. others it's a passion.

That's pretty damn cool man, ya father time catches all of us. I'm at that age where I feel it more and more every day. It's a rarity when I don't have something hurting.

Not that I have the best grasp of the English language in the first place... But the "beer" and whiskey exaggerates that :D

A lot of American beers I won't drink, I like some imports and some micro brews.

Excuse me....I will run 225-250 and take whatever happens :D

I do cheat with my butts though usually I'll start them around 7-8 PM, once I get into the stall around 11 I pull it and put it in the oven inside at 225 and then just get up around 5 and check on it. Smoke only does so much once you're in the stall. And...the house smells amazing when you wake up for work.
