I used to know someone that sold tailgates. But he used to go junkyards every weekend and get parts from them and sell them on offerup

 

My coworker just got his ripped off at work. Damn truck was sitting right outside the bosses office and some tweeker came alond and lifted it in broad daylight. My buddy asked why his but not mine? Luckily for me, one of my first purchases was for a pop and lock for the tailgate. He is lucky they didnt jack his tail lights too. Bad karma to those who pull sh#£ like that.

And this is why i have a hose clamp faced down so you can only undo it ~ 1/8th of a turn at a time, as well as washers on the upper cable bolts so you cant easily detach the cables.

 

Does locking the tailgate serve as a deterrent? I have a hard tonneau. I’m not familiar with this issue.

 

Most definietly. On the 2nd gens without the lock you can get a tailgate off the truck in ~15-20 secs if you know what you are doing and there isnt any deterrents like a hose clamp and cable stays.
