You've got white guages... as far as I know, the only way you get that in 02 is with the TRD package.

I've never heard of the TRD package with no locker... but you don't have the button.

Toyota has always done wierd shit with options though.

Correct not a TRD, plus the white gauges became standard after a certain year regardless of the TRD package....2001?

I'm assuming 2001 is the change since that's when they got a face lift. Would make sense; that and I've seen 2001 models on CL with white gauges but no signs pointing to TRD.

Someone help me again I'd always assumed the SR5 all had the little half cab mine does, I seem to be far dumber than I look (and if I do say so myself that's already pretty dumb)

You can also do a VIN lookup and see what the tuck was supplied with from the factory, and dealer options.

    https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification

But more than likely that's not a "true" TRD since you don't have the locker button on the dash. Other tell tale sign is looking at the differential itself. The electric locker ("e-locker") is a little box on the side of the center section of the axle housing.

The SR5 and the TRD packages are more or less independent. You can have one without the other, although I can't recall ever seeing a TRD and wasn't an SR5 as well.

SR5 package is just things like power windows, A/C, that sort of stuff.
TRD package is upgraded shocks and the rear diff locker.

    I stand corrected slightly...

Looking on craigslist, it must be a cab type when the switch happens....

2001 Regular cab non trd prerunner has a black gauge layout

2001 Extended cab non trd has a white gauge layout

SR5 is just the name of the convenience package. Power door locks/windows, that sort of thing. It's not even a unique package to Tacomas. ALL Toyotas have an SR5 option package.

Okay guys so all that comes up on vin checkers are "deluxe" or "limited" so I'm guessing if it was really TRD It would say "TRD xxxxxx" on it right for the trim ?

And I don't think anyone actually has a 100% idea of what the SR5 package ACTUALLY includes... it seems to change between years and models etc.

We're passed the TRD part, you don't have one.

We're simply discussing changes over the years.

yeah it would specify if it was a TRD model, if it's not on there then it wasn't. The dead giveaway is that you don't have the RR Diff Lock switch to the left of the steering wheel, you just have a blank plate where it would normally go.

Also you can tell by looking underneath at the differential, the e-locker actuator is on the outside of the differential and easy to spot.
