Instant gratification being able to move in/out/around the engine bay without constantly wondering when someone’s going to come by and bump the prop rod and send the hood crashing down. Peace of mind for sure..

Good point! Thanks for the pictures, which also confirm that these hood struts work with ditch lights

I can confirm that as well. I have the SDHQ brackets that look to be bigger than others. I did have to drill a new hole because of the Dobinson's snorkel. But without it all would've been fine.

Just looking at the pictures, how would the ditch lights interfere with the struts? The struts are mounted much lower into the engine bay and pretty far forward of the ditch light bracket whether hood is open or closed.

The ditch light brackets would have to be massive to give any interference

Folks were concerned that the hood struts will raise the hood so high that the ditch lights will hit the cowl or windshield. The beauty of this kit is that it allows you to set the hood height wherever you want it within the "stock to +6" range, so if you have ditch lights, you set the height at just below the point of contact. These pictures are helpful in illustrating that point (picture = 1000 words :)).

Oh, ok. I understand that concern. I have mine setup within 3-4 inches of the prop rod potential. I didn’t need the full height. But yes, you’re right. I did choose to keep them shy of the max (6 inch) so I didn’t smack the windshield with the ditch lights, although I don’t think I would have at 6 inches. I’m 6’2 and I have zero issues hitting my head on anything at this height. I did smack the hood a few times in the past, but that was carelessness. These struts do their job. Honestly one of my favorite mods to date.

Wanted to make a list of how the hood strut kit works with a variety of other accessories - please feel free to add or correct!

    Ditch Lights
Ditch lights should not be an issue in general - you simply set the hood height to just below where the ditch lights would contact the windshield or cowl. Here are a couple of examples:

    Intakes

The struts work with the OEM and the TRD Air Intakes with no mods needed:

The K&N CAI requires some light trimming at the corner:

Other CAIs with a full lid will require more mods, please post pics if you've successfully tackled them:

    Electrical Accessories:

Most accessories will work as long as they are slightly away from the inner fender liner. Here are a couple of examples:

    The sPOD works as well:

Please add others if you've come across them!

Just placed my order even though I previously installed the Redline's. To me, just the added height I'm getting out of these Spiker's will make it worth the removal of the previously installed hood struts.
