Larger lift wont help rubbing and wheel spacers will make it worse. Dude didnt have a clue.

I agree with the JBAs not being the issue. Did you see his alignment numbers pre-alignment? His caster was about 3.5 degrees before alignment. After alignment, he dropped to about 1.5, which lost him a few degrees. I think what the alignment tech did was aligning to factory spec, which is why he is experiencing the massive rubbing.

So you don't have any rubbing at all with your JBAs?

He's one of the few that I've read on here, that runs 285s without a chop, OR rubbing on the cab mount!

I'm not a mall crawler either, so I want good performance and clearance when offroading, no matter what type of terrain.

If you swap them back to stock you will still need an alignment

Yes his upper control arms have positive caster which will move the tire back on the top control arm but when you get an alignment they move the bottom control arm forward. If you just tell them you want 4 or more degrees of caster or as much as you can get it should fix all your problems.

[QUOTE=" There are a TON of people here on TW that run JBAs with 285s and no problems. I would find a better alignment shop. You can get it fixed where there's minimal rubbing.[/QUOTE]

    Yes

Tell them 4 or more degrees of caster or as much as possible

I spoke to the alignment tech and he said he’ll try and told the lady at front desk to make note to adjust to as much positive castor as possible.

Me too because there’s no more of this running around all over the place looking for miracles :). Stock UCAs did just fine and maybe I can return the jbas if not useable. If not then I’ll sell them here at a discount on tw

Not even a little bit. No CMC either. Trimmed 1 1.5" piece of plastic off the bottom edge of my fender flare and thats it. But i also dont run wheels that stick out far either. Wheels having a high offset will make you rub like crazy as well. I run 16x8 4.5backspacing and 0 offset.

JBA control arms have built in + caster which means they move the top of the knuckle back, it does move the knuckle back but very little. But an alignment moves the knuckle forward much more than the top moves it back. When he got the alignment they took caster away and unless you tell them you want a custom alignment and what you want they will put it as close to factory as they can.

    bj.jpg

The lower ball joint is what moves when you get an alignment. Positive caster moves it forward, negative moves it back, the top ball joint does not move.

Lots of research lol. My wheels are spaced out just enough to keep my tires off the UCA's. That playes a big role in it as well.

    Check away lol.
