My Wal-Mart fired cashiers, installed all self scans and then hired security (greeters) to scan my receipt AND my items at the door to make sure I scanned everything. Wtf.

Just give me my cashier that scans all my stuff to begin with.

I told store mgr if I wanted to be a cashier I would apply for a job.
He said they aren't hiring any cashiers.

Well, I have been back to Meijer happily and wondering why I ever left... F walmart.

Self checkout is faster and I don't have to make small talk with a cashier. Win win. It's not just WalMart. Many places are going to self checkout/self order because of minimum wage increases. Funny how that works, huh.

My 75yo Mom hates self checkout too, so y'all aren't alone.

I just say no thank you and keep walking, not required to prove you own items that now belong to you.

I think you guys are missing the point I got stopped at the door and they scanned all my items anyways. I had to wait for him to scan what I already scanned and paid for. Everything got scanned twice.

You also don’t have to let them scan your stuff on the way out. Just say no thanks and walk past them. I do it all the time when there is a line to get out the door

Mandatory minimum wage increases do 2 things...1) raise the prices of nearly everything, and 2) make employers look for ways to cut labor costs to include automation.

I bought a fishing license in Alaska at a Walmart a few years ago. Only Walmart I’ve ever been in. Just that one time. Not a fan of self scan either; I love my friendly neighborhood checkers, I’m the guy you don’t want be behind in line cuz I’m never in a hurry and I like to chit chat.

Crazy, people say self check out is faster, more convenient and then wait in line at the door before leaving.

I'm with you. I thought to myself if I paid for this shit, which I did then I own it and it's no different than my freaking wallet and I'm not showing his idiot jack!

Millennials love it, older people hate it. As a millennial I'm starting to hate it too, especially at grocery stores.

Facts. Once you have purchased the items, they are yours to do with as you please. Just say "no thanks" and keep walking. The door person is not a loss prevention employee.

Should they suspect a shoplifter, loss prevention will be involved and the last thing they want is a false accusation.

Maybe you live in a high crime area with lots of shoplifters. Never had to show my stuff walking out of Walmart a single time and I'm using the self checkout 4-5 times a week.

I like self checkout. I don't have to be judged by the cashier when I put my jumbo box of "Magnums" on the counter.:D
