14 years of companionship is a good long time. Not nearly long enough though. God bless her, Godspeed little girl. Condolences.

Its never long enough. It never gets easier.
My longest lasting relationships have been with my dogs.
When Im not with them Im thinking about them and wanting to be with them.

Im still trying to figure out if its a curse or a cruel joke that the one animal on this whole planet we bond the closest with has such a short life span compared to us.

I have a special place in the mountains I bury my best friends. Im getting tired of burying my best friends.

I know guys that have given up.
Its hard but as long as I can outlive a dog I will always have a dog.

    Haha
Dont forget having to look everytime you turn around to walk, everytime you roll out from under the truck, everytime you go up or down the stairs or through a doorway, everytime you scoot a rolly chair in the house or the garage...
    Puppy underfoot!

Stoopid cat got me on the stairs the other night.
Im stepping on his head next time.

    Simba loves his big brudder.

    Theyre pretty inseperable,,,
Except when melanois is hanging out, then its every cat for himself.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Picked up my new copilot about two hours ago. Now to complete the remainder of the 14 hour round trip. Worth every bit.

We have a couple of schnauzers. I have mentioned before that our male went blind about a year ago but he has adapted well. Now the female has developed diabetes. My wife took her to the vet on Tuesday and she had to take her back in a couple more times since. We now have to give her injections twice a day and a special diet. BTW, she is not over-weight. These dogs are a little over 9 yrs old. Honestly, it is getting to be expensive. Has anyone else had issues like this?

Buddys shorthair pointer had hip issues

    Brothers rott had hip issues

Brothers black lab had huge goiters and codys sister just passed away christmastime

Another of codys sisters is on strong meds for siezures

Ex gf's boxers were always at the vet
Anothers german shepards had constant issues

I could go on and on
    You are not alone

We do what we can for them

Some get lucky and never have health issues, some dont.
