Done the lookout trail, we dropped back to the trunk road, and towards another closed trail, known as the little loop.

Off the little loop, we headed to the start of the next trail, which loops from Alberta, into British Columbia, and back into Alberta in a solid day of wheeling.

The morning dawned bright and clear. Perfect day to go run the trail. We’d lost one Jeep, but were still 4 strong.

Holy crap, whats that, almost 25 gallons of fuel in the bed? Do you normally carry that much out there?

I do! Especially if I’m travelling into bc. Down where this picture was taken, we are 100km from the last gas station, and we did a lot of hard miles, so I wanted enough. And Andy, with the black Jeep, didn’t bring enough, so he used some. If going into bc, their taxes raised the cost of fuel by as much as $0.40 a litre last summer, so I brought enough to save me buying fuel out there.

Nice. How are you mounting them? Just bolted to the bed?

After our quick leg stretch, we carried on. There’s a couple really fun rock faces to climb here, just before you cross the boundary into bc.

All I did was ratchet step them for the summer. I was switching to rotopax, so I didn’t want to do anything permanent with these.

Top of the north fork pass, and the AB/BC boundary.

The next trip, on August long, was my favourite of the last few years. The same trail we tried in late June, and were stopped by snow. We’ve tried to reach the end of this trail for a few years now, and this time, with a good group of people and vehicles, we made it.
