The weather in Chicago can be brutal. Although, this type of vinyl is supposed to hold up well in low temperatures, there may be some factors that caused the peeling/cracking. For example, if it started in the wing area, then more than likely there were bubbles, or space between the decal and wheel that were not fully adhered (easy to miss during installation), in the wing creases which ended up dramatically decreasing the durability of the wheel decals.

I know of a few guys with the decals who live in Minnesota and Colorado. So far, they have not had any issues during the last two winter seasons. One is in the snow almost every weekend during the snowy months. I know the weather and road conditions in these areas are different than yours, so I will look more into the differences.

@ozpall , if you would like to try the decals out again when the weather warms up, send me a private message and I can get you some sent out. :)

October weather should have been perfect for installation. I'm assuming something went wrong or was overlooked during the installation process. I will contact you shortly so I can send out more decals!

I’m in NC and have had 2 of them crack, but for the price I would say they are pretty good. They lasted about 8 months.

I'm going to private message you shortly for more details. For $25+, these are not a bad option to test the blackout wheel look on your truck or to hold off for more expensive wheels. We have had wheel decals on our truck since August '17 and have not had any issues with peeling, lifting, etc. I did take every single precautionary measure to ensure that they were fully adhered.

The vinyl should not crack. With normal use, the only thing that could be a possibility is that there were bubbles, especially those that hide in the curved wing area, and over time these areas may tear or 'pop' because there is nothing supporting the vinyl from behind.
The idea could be similar to a trampoline mat, if you put the mat on the ground nothing will cause it to bounce/make an indent because it is supported by the ground. If you raise the mat and jump on it, you will see the weight caused the mat to make an indent. The areas that are not fully adhered are not completely supported by the wheel and the air behind these areas can cause problems while other areas stay perfectly intact giving the impression that it cracked.
It's important that when applying the decals, to run behind the decal as you place it to make sure its fully adhered and to run across the crease in the wing area before sealing the ends. Also, making sure all sides are sealed to prevent lifting. It can be hard to get them perfect at first, but we provide extras with every standard order and affordable options for extra, extras. I encourage everyone to use these extras on the decals they are not 100% confident about.

it could possibly be due to an air bubble though you are correct. Just sent you a PM with the pictures.

Put on the center cap inlays and they look great. Hopefully I’ll get the wheels done this weekend!
