I was incorrectly guessing that there were hidden parts in the accumulator ports. In reality, the entire function of it is the disk providing surface area and the seal compressing under the vacuum pressure of the clutch pedal releasing. This restricts the flow back toward the master cylinder. The main body of the accumulator is just a solid hunk of aluminum as you see it, with fitting seats pressed into each port to create a seal. No hidden parts, just the machined passages.

Adding the channel just bypasses the function of the disk and seal since no negative pressure can be generated.

I did not modify the heat shield. I had it all lined up before tightening it down to fit under the heat shield by test fitting the heat shield after getting everything starting on the threads. I was not careful enough when tightening down and that resulted in it moving without my noticing. (It was dark and I was using a headlamp).

Also at this point, I don't think that is where I got the air in the line. I had tubing on the bleed nipple that was slightly too big allowing air to suck back when bleeding. Not the best idea.

All in all though, the honda line worked great. In one of my pictures you can see the line extends slightly outside the heat shield. I could not find a route that did not result in a bad bend or this. I don't think this will be a problem, but it's worth noting.

Seems like a lot of work for little gain if it ain't broke don't fix it. Guess you could take all that junk off and replace them with bell cranks and push rods from the 60's.

Some folks don't feel the effect, but from what has been posted here, many feel a large change just like I did.

While I enjoy a cable throttle, cable clutches or push rods are not my cup of tea. I much prefer a simple, self adjusting hydraulic clutch.

In the end on an MT, a device between the master and slave cylinder is just silly.

To me it was nothing short of night and day difference. I have driven many 10-20 year old cars that had better feeling clutches than the stock one on my 3rd gen Tacoma. That is insane. The stock clutch just felt wrong. Every shift. It was driving me insane. I hated it. No brand new manual should feel like that. After the mod, it feels like it should.

I cannot recommend this mod enough.

The 2nd Gens had them also. There were not many posts about it that I could find, but it was where I searched for info.

I almost did the dremel mod. Decided not to so I could save my stock parts just in case I didn't like it....

    I like it.

Fair enough.. I was in the unique position where I had done it on my previous 3rd gen so I knew I'd like it. This time around I went dremel for "stealth" lol.

On both the 4cyl and V6?
The other unknown is how much fuckery the 2nd gen unit added to the clutch feel. We know what it does to the 3rd gen ...

As far as the 4cyl, all that I know is the 3rd Gen didn't have it.

You may have a point there. It feels like the 3rd Gen has less bite, so it might not be the same issue for them? I only test drove two 2nd Gen MTs and the clutch was NBD on either (2.7l and 4.0l). The thing that stuck out was the weezy top end on the 4.0l. I immediately scratched my head with the longer throw and less feels on both 2017s that I drove (drove one / bought one).

Also, one 2nd Gen guy that did the ADM said that it gave him a bit more PP throw that he needed for the Stage 2 clutch that he installed.
