Hey Tacoma world I have a 99 Tacoma with 160k miles runs great and all but there’s a couple of concerns I have. First concern is when I go to turn my truck off I get a rattle noise from what I believe is the transmission. Not sure though it might be the mount but also thought maybe the synchros are making that noise. But only does it as soon as I turn off the engine
Second concern is my brakes they feel really delayed. When I’m cursing they work alright it’s when I have to stop fast they feel really delayed I’ve changed the brakes and rotors recently noticed some uneven wear could it be my calipers or could it be the fact that my driver side drum is full of oil from bad axle seal
Third concern is my clutch it feels like it’s not the same distance to disengage and engage. Clutch feels really short and soft and it seems difficult at times to get it in gear. If I double clutch it goes in fine but just going form 1st clutch 2nd feels rough
Anyone else experience these things or have any idea what the problems are?

    Change the clutch fluid.
Replace leaking Axle oil seal and brake shoes.

And when you say clutch fluid you mean the fluid in the clutch master cylinder??

I think he means drain the fluid from the entire clutch system. Then after you refill the system be sure to bleed all of the air out of it.
You might get away with just a good bleed job, but since fluid is so cheap, might as well replace it with new.

If you just toss the oil-soaked brake shoes without replacing the axle seal you'll just be replacing the new shoes a hundred miles or so down the road...

Flushing and bleeding the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder is ideal if done correctly. Using a bleeder tube and capture system is ideal to prevent air in system.
    BUT
Using a Turkey baster to change the clutch master cylinder fluid is an easy fix and prevents air also. New axle bearings, seals and REPLACEMENT of gear oil soaked brake shoes for the fix.

I had the same problem about 2 years ago. My rear axle seals blew and had to get new shoes after replacing the seals. I just cleaned up the drum. All works fine now.

    Good 'nuf!

I don't know how many miles I drove with completely oiled-up rear brake shoes, but it was a hefty amount.
