I hadn't heard the 2000 number but that seems possible as something they would've said. Here's the documented stats for those who care to geek out:
According to this article from May 2014 they were planning on 1500.
At the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, a Toyota VP said they had sold about 1200.
Then I got my inside source to dig up the actual 1193 number.

Hey guys, I've tried searching the thread to see if anyone's kept their "stock" red coilover from the BAJA suspension after buying new struts? I'm leaning toward the bilstein adjustable 5100s, so I can hopefully keep the BAJA coilovers and maybe even the 1" toytec spacer to retain close to the 2.75" lift I had up front before. If so, would I need to treat it like an aftermarket coil and set the 5100s to the "0" setting or could I bump them up a notch or two? Other options would be scrapping the BAJA coil completely and going with either the 6112 and it's coil (I'd rather not spend the money), or the 5100 with an OME coil of some sort, maybe the 886 or 888 (for a softer ride)? TIA everyone, trying to piece this all together.

From my understanding, the 5100’s are a downgrade from the Baja Bilstein’s. The 6112 are the non-TRD tuned version of what we we have from stock. If you want a softer ride, you could swap out the coils from a 2015 Pro. That’s really the only one compatible, again from what I understand

Edit: Sorry I didn’t explain the last part. The 2015 Pro’s have 600lb coils while the Baja’s have 650lb could. I’ve driven a 2015 Pro before and I did notice a bit more nose dive when braking and body sway when turning

Hey guys newer Baja owner here. Man I love this thing! Not the fun kind of flexing, but it handled this big load pretty well. Turned out to be 1500 lbs! No virus stopping me from getting crap done lol

The BAJA/PRO coil will not fit on a 5100 shock.

You can use your stock springs on 6112 shocks. From what I found the 6112 comes with a 610lbin spring.

Thanks for the help. I had read last night that the stock coil wouldn't fit the 6112 because it's 2.65" diameter compared to the 5100's 2.5" diameter, but I don't know if they were talking a bone stock coil or the 650# red coil on the BAJA come to think of it. I may just use the 6112 and keep my coils and call it good then.

Planning on adding a bit of armor / winch to the front at some point so I'd like to keep the 650# vice the Pro's 600# coil.

Thanks man, I think I'm gonna go with the 6112s, unless a strut rebuild is relatively intuitive? I didn't even know that was possible. What struts do the Pros use, same as the BAJA? My bilsteins up front haven't gone yet, like the rears have, but it seems like good practice to replace them all at the same time?

Please keep us posted on the 6112s cause I'm about due for shocks too and I'd prefer to keep my coils. The rears should be straight forward with 5160s, right?

I have the 1" Pro spacer up front and an Icon progressive AAL in the rear.
