Hey guys looking for some advice on recommended maintenance. I took my 08 into the dealer a few months back to be checked for frame rust and Thankfully no rust was found; however, they gave me a RECOMMENDED Maintenance list items and i'm planning to start chipping away at them as I declined during the Christmas time frame. Hoping you can let me know which things I should prioritize first, etc.
Here are the recommendations and quoted price I received:
    - V6 tuneup $189
    - Drive Belt $169
    - Throttle Induction Cleaning $189
    - Coolant Flush $219
    * I also remember him mentioning spark plugs over the phone but it isn't listed on the print out.
Anyways, thanks so much in advance and I appreciate all the advice on the forum as always!

Do you know any service history on the truck?

    I would recommend

    1. Spark Plugs
    2. Full Coolant Drain and Refill (hesitant of a Flush with out know past coolant system service)
    3. Trans Fluid Drain and Fill. (Again, Flush not recommended.)
    4. Differentials and Transfer Case Fluids.
    5. Drive Belt
    6. Grease Drive Shaft and Drive line components.

I’ll add brake fluid flush if it’s really dark and ps flush.

    Still thinking about it.
prone2xl..are you doing these things yourself? If so, you will save alot of money over those estimates. As in, V6 tuneup (spark plugs $25?), Coolant flush and fill (coolant $25?), Drive belt (belt $35?)... Just saying that those dollar amounts are largely labor costs. Still a good idea to do it or get it done, either way..

Well I'm the original owner, but I'll be honest I'm not 100% on everything I've done for the 12 year history. What's the difference in a coolant flush and drain/refill ?

Hey @Hooligans I admittedly don't have the mechanical knowledge or I would. Wish I had one of u guys nearby to possibly learn and tackle a group maintenance day together.

A flush “flushes” the whole system under pressure.
Not a huge deal, but if you “flush” debris into your Heater Core it’s not good.
That is a really big job and not easy (at least for me) to do.
The chances of it actually stopping the heater core up are slim.
But the chance rise if the system hasn’t been maintained regularly.
I don’t like chances. Not on big jobs or things that could cost me more money.

I chose to drain and fill.
A full Drain and Fill will consist of draining the radiator and block.
See here for location for block drains.

If you do decide to do it yourself, the radiator peacock valve can be hard to open.
I used a 22mm socket to help me. Thanks @Bishop84 for this great piece of helpful advice.

    As for Transmission Flush
I’ll let @gearcruncher elaborate on that.

Very good information thank u for that! Would it be best for me to ask them to drain and fill instead I guess? That would avoid the potential problem right ? Are u in TN ? I'm in Mississippi

Thanks for the response. I understand completely. Let the pros do it if it's not your thing.

    Yes, I’m in Tn.

As for what you have them do? It is up to you.
I always try to tell people what might happen, even if the chances are small.
The only reason I brought it up in your case was that I didn’t know the service history.
If you had started the system had been Drained, Filled or Flushed regularly (40-50) I wouldn’t have mentioned the heater core.

I myself went the full 100k before I did my D/R.
I would not advise anyone to go that long.
It is probably best to do it every 50k.
The manual says 100k then every 50k there after, IIRC.
