just wanted to know what these two symbols are not on my 2020 Tacoma’s multi info display and what do they control. Music and navigation?

One is the compass screen which was partially linked to the head unit. It would report posted speed limits and would change depending on how you had Up configured (true north or in the direction of the Taco).

The other was linked also and showed music info on the center stack. Of course, it was linked to the head unit.

You're being a 2020 with the revamped head unit apparently changed those?

I have a 2020 and mine are not missing. It has Premium+AT.

Play around with the vehicle settings in your head unit, there is a lot there to toggle.

As stated, they are a compass and a "now playing" type of screen that reflects the audio screen on the head unit.

Could it be a difference between the premium tech package and no premium tech package? My 2020 has the premium tech package and has the two symbols OP is missing.

How do you change the compass from true north to taco direction? I didn't see that when I was messing with my settings.

There's a touch button on the map screen that looks like the ^ symbol shown in the multi-info display picture above. I think the button is near the top-left on the screen.

Edit: This picture just happened to show up in another thread, so I linked to it. The button in the top-left corner of the display screen toggles the orientation of the map.

Like @DES2009 said, the head unit choice controls it on both the head unit and center stack.

sorry for not replying sooner. I think maybe it has to do with no premium package. As I don’t have navigation nor the premium audio package.

Yea that makes sense why you wouldn't have the icons.

I didn’t realize the 2020s didn’t have factory nav anymore. I guess they figured car play was a full replacement.

It depends on what package you have - I have the factory nav in my 2020 Pro as well as the Car Play option.

You can swap in the premium radio if you want and it'll light those icons up. My sr5 now has those icons

Did someone figured this out??? I had the compass on my old 2018 TRD Sport, I enjoyed having the compass on display specially when is showing what street you are in, speed limit etc, it was very helpful. Now I have a new 2020 TRD Sport and can’t find this feature. Both the 2018 I had vs the 2020 are the same when it comes to trim level, so no tech package, premium radio nor any other options.

I’m gonna go to my dealer for something next week. But I am going to ask them and see what they say. Maybe that will help clear up why we don’t have it.

    this and that...
trd prior to 2020 came with nav as standard. apparently 2020 did not and you had to opt for the package, thus the reason why icons is missing.

I know a guy with a 2016 who had both of these icons as per usual and recently he got the TSB update and both the nav and music icons disappeared - but they were there for the past 5 years...

Anyone ever get to the bottom of this?
