When/How to use 4x4?

Yeah there is a upper speed limit that you can switch from 2wd to 4wd, or 4wd to 2wd. I am not sure but it was something like 65mph. You would need to drop below that speed to engage or disengage 4wd.

I kinda wish our Tacoma's came with the auto option, but by not having it on, you will save gas. Basically whenever it's bad out, I slap it in 4hi. When it's not, it's in 2wd. It really is that simple for me.

 

Too bad they can't offer an AWD system on the Tacoma, it would be ideal for the majority of trucks that never go off-road. I realize real off-roaders would never buy it, have Mercy on me guys.

 

Could always have an AWD diff that allows 4 hi and 4 low. Like 4runners and the GX460.

 

I used to have a Jeep Cherokee XJ, it had the ability to either be in part-time or full-time 4X4. Jeep doesn't offer that option anymore.

 

AWD could just be a trim option. The TRD Mall Crawler. Strong enough for the men, made for the women!

If they made a 2 door and it was a few feet shorter I would've considered it, but I wanted a Body on Frame pickup truck so it probably wouldn't have happened. I have a Subaru for the Winter so it's not a big deal for me.

 

Cool! I've got an 18 Impreza and the Wife has a 15 Forester, her 4th one. Subarus are the best on snow covered roads IMO and I got sick of the part time system in my Wranglers even though it engaged/disengaged very well.
