I like it so far. I’m tall and have a long inseam so this puts me in a better riding position. Plus it levels out the bike a bit. I’ll see how it does after a few rides. The handling dynamics are supposed to change a little too. I added some preload to the rear shock and it helped transfer more torque to the rear wheel without adding more lift. I want this bike to be a runner.

Looking for some armored jeans. As I rode around today, I was feeling naked. :notsure:

Also, saw another rider.....no helmet, but it was strapped to his sissy bar. o_O

I’m looking in to getting a couple pairs as well. Still trying to decide if I want to get pants I can wear for work or the over pants though. I’m thinking just regular Kevlar jeans with armor is the better option. But well see

You guys wear gear more than i do. Shit happens but being aware and vigilant will keep you 99% safe.

I should add going down isnt the worst thing ever. Plain jeans have kept my legs from road rash and so has a hoodie. Arms have caught the brunt of it when sliding but even then its fairly superficial wounds. A week or two and its healed up fairly well.

I'd rather spend $200 than two weeks with road rash.

Yup. Agreed. If you don’t wear armor and are fine dealing with whatever injuries you sustain, great. But no reason to tell others they shouldn’t worry about it. It’s their body and their money. If they want to take every precaution to keep themselves safe then let them. I’d much rather spend the money and have protection than have to go in to work in business attire and be miserable for 2 weeks having it rub on the road rash.

Depends on how fast you’re going. I got knocked off the bike going over 60. My regular jeans protected me from road rash on the majority of my legs but my bony edges (knees/hips/shit in my pockets) took a little damage. The sleeves on my hoody were pushed up as I slid down the freeway and then it was just bare forearm getting sanded down. Haha.

I do wear leather gloves with knuckle protection and they saved my hands and survived the accident. I actually still wear the same gloves today and you can’t really tell they’ve been in an accident.

Side question: how you liking that garage flooring? Get a lot of stuff falling through the grating? Strong enough for floor jacks and jack stands?

love it. It’s super durable. Easy to pop out a section (plenty of washers have dropped thru) survives the heat of Vegas, easy to clean, looks good, etc. Its Swisstrax- the stuff you see at car shows, auctions etc.
I got a bunch of it off of Craigslist a few years back.

She lives. Had to jump start her off of my truck. Not rideable sadly tho.

the way I see it is like this:

if you go down, you arent riding enough

if you dont go down, you are prob still not riding enough

ride more is the moral of this story

buy gear and go ride, dont sit around fretting about gear when you aint even riding...

Honestly this was all i was getting at. You dont have to have all this gear to ride. Helmet gloves and youre good to go or dont. Not hating on anyones choice to have gear nor did i say its useless and people shouldnt be buying it. just dont get the impatience about everything

I've been down more times then I can count on both hands. Ive walked away from crashes. Also been hit 3 times. Once on the 1000 and twice on the 600. Some where mistakes on my part. But when I ride I hard so there's that. But never decided I didn't want to ride because of a crash. And I know people that went down and never rode again.

I've also never owned a full race suit either. Normal street gear for me is Jean's boots and a hoodie. Always wear gloves and a helmet
