I did it in case I wanted to transport 4x8sheets. It does not support my Yakima because of the unique Yakima mounts.

Good news is the front bar allows the SE cover to open enough to get tools out of the front

Predator side steps. DiamondBack SE cover. Waiting on my OEM Remote Tailgate Lock to arrive.
Question for those who have gone with a track type system; what do you use to seal the penetrations through the Diamondback? Seems with the track riding on top of the "diamonds", it may be a little difficult to seal without some type of gasket. I'm sure i could silicone, but want to keep things as clean as possible. TIA.

I had the same question before I bought mine. Frontrunner actually includes rubber gaskets that the rails sit on, and it seals itself very well from what I can tell.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by these included gaskets.

Front Runner has a pair of 1Up Racks added to her. Picking up my Scott Spark this week and hopefully the rain will stop soon :fingerscrossed:

I love the 270!!! I honestly don’t know why more people don’t opt for the 270. I feel it is so much easier to access than the SE or HD. I love the convenient side opening verses the one access point on the drivers side for the SE and HD that opens the whole front section of the cover. It seems a lot quicker as well to get something out of the back. Just open up half of the section, grab something, and go. I will say that even with half of the section, it opens up enough to be able to slide something big enough in that you wouldn’t have a huge problem getting something bigger in and out of the front section. I’m not really sure what you would need to put in the front to have to access the whole front portion. I would highly Recommend the 270.

I believe the load capacity for just two on each side is 220lbs if I remember correctly but I honestly cannot remember. I’d have to check Thule’s Website

what is the cost, if you don’t mind me asking, for the front runner setup? I would most likely go with just 2 rails and I know y’all did 3, if you have a price breakdown on the individual pieces (cross bars, tracks and bar feet).

trying to get a total of this setup with a basket on top, versus Fabricating one like YSL.

I don’t have the breakdown but I paid just north of $600 shipped for my 3 bar set-up...

Thank you for the post! I was able to find all of the parts except this one:
    • pickup roll top leg mount - LASS028
Other parts breakdown in price as follows (individually):
    • Universal Track: $122
    • 1475mm Slat: $66
    • End Cap: $19
Do you know what the individual price on the legs were? Are the sold in pairs? Thanks!

Always a pair. About $80 approximately per set of two.

Added some short FRO load bars on the FRO tracks on the front panel of the DB cover and relocated the Maxtrax onto them. Front panel cover still opens up, but it doesn’t stay open on its own anymore due to the added weight on top and it doesn’t open up as wide as without the load bars and Maxtrax mounted on it. Gonna need to make some kind of hood prop kickstand thingamajig or a simple bungee cord type latching system.

You can replace the struts with stronger ones. I put mine under the rear deck in the dead space and it still works with the stock struts.

Thanks! I’ll need to look into that more. That did cross my mind at the Target parking lot, but then I started thinking of what I could do for the time being.

I’m guessing I added at least 30lbs onto that panel with the two load bars, recovery board mounts, hardware, pair of Maxtrax boards and the bike lock.

The stock gas shocks are 80 lb shocks (Suspa C16-08789). See Suspa’s catalog for a list of other options. I replaced mine with longer shocks of the same opening force to make the cover open further.

Be careful not to increase the shock force too much though. I tried 100 lb shocks but they were too strong for the small amount of weight I added to my cover. It sounds like you might be okay with the 100 lb shocks though. I wouldn’t go any higher.

Also, don’t buy them from DiamondBack. I found them available online for less than half the price Diamondback wanted.

Thanks! Tacomaworld ftw! It looks like that 16-2 is the style Diamondback uses. I’ll check around for those.
