ECT Stealth PRO shift knob

Thanks, yeah... I was just wanting to see your solder job. It's cool. I plan to do the same thing except solder in a 12V => 3V converter so I don't ever have to worry about changing batteries.

 

Nice. I have the same opener and plan in doing the same with it. Where did you end up sticking the opener?

 

Finally installed mine today, took my time and I noticed that I was having a hell of a time getting the parking brake boot off, I noticed that is was just clipped in place by slots. I popped it off the console and drilled out the rear of the shift boot clip with a 5/16" drill bit. This was where I was hoping the drill wouldn't eat up the shift boot.

MESO's install video was a great help. I also had a little bit of hard time trying to feed the harness behind the climate control panel, I used a piece of long cable tie and taped it to the harness ends and fed it through the bottom. Installed and loving the convenience of having ECT on the fly. I don't have a use for the second button yet but hope to in the future. I also ran my phone charge cable and AUX cable, I'm going to notch a blank switch cover and use it tidy it up a bit.

Added the blank switch cover with the notch to cover up the hole. I forgot to add one more power cable for the tablet I plan to install but that can come later. Thanks to VicNic3 for the blank cover.

No I haven’t tested it yet but since you brought it back up I’m going to try the jumper wire

 

For clarification this is regards to specifically the beat sonic front/rear camera harness kit


so I finally pulled the dash off again so I could pop that camera switch out and test with the jumper wire. It works but we had the wrong wires! It’s red and green. So I tested with the jumper (it worked) then removed and tested the switch and it still works. In fact I can cycle through both front cam to rear to off and back again without holding down the shifter switch is my guess based on each tap of the jumper cycled through

My jumper I ended up making after trying a paper clip and just regular wire with no success (but come to find out I was jumping the wrong wires- red and black)

So hooking up the me-so 2nd switch wires (yellow and white) to the camera wires (red and green) does it matter which wire to which?

 

So red provides power, black is ground for the switch illumination, and the green is the switch providing power to the module to switch. (pulse and not latching)
The switch does not stay depressed...as the shift switch imitates also...

 

Yea I noticed jumping red and black would illuminate the switch itself but that was it. So it wouldn’t matter which wire I tap yellow or white from the Meso switch right? (It’s just completing the circuit)

 

Nope...but they need to be the same side knob switch,you'll be using both ends and back to the red n green at the switch harness.

 

Thanks for the info. Found a source to make a male connector and female connector for the BestSonic switch.

Has anyone had any issues accidentally pressing the buttons when shifting or setting their hand on the shifter?

 

Speaking for an N of 1: No.

 

Unless you are gorilla gripping the shift knob, the buttons are pretty hard to press accidentally. You know if you would press it with the raised button tab combined with the tactile button click.

 

I have actually pressed it a couple of times on accident.
Usually when going from park to S and moving from S to D.
The button press is smooth, that I do not even notice it.
OVtuned ETC is good for the truck anyways.

@MESO thanks for the replacement kit. Install was a little tricky with the larger connectors. I ended up routing the wires, leaving the buttons off of the shift knob. I did this so I could screw the knob on without twisting the wiring. Once the knob was screwed on, I then put the buttons in and secured the shift collar and replaced the upper cover.

 

Did you end up wiring up your switch if so how did you wire it

I tried wiring up mine today to some light pods but I think I fried the button
